A: I was able to boil about 16oz of water in 2 1/2 minutes. Boiling water is 212 degrees. I don't know how it could be less hot if its boiling... It'd have to be at least 212 degrees.

A: Yes, there is a small plastic piece on the inside of the kettle. Also I think the handle also has it on the top of the lid.

Once the water boils, the switch will flip back up and the light will go out. Please note that the light is not very bright, so it may be difficult to see in bright lighting. If the light does not illuminate at all, it’s possible that the internal bulb is defective.
