Description

DecoHooks make it easy to hang your wall decor items in drywall, without any tools. The hooks are designed to twist into drywall, and then push the head of the hook until it sits flush with the wall. The rear tip of the hook will engage into the back of the drywall, which gives the hook it’s superior holding strength.

The patented design of the head creates a groove in between the back of the head and the wall, to make sure whatever you hang on it, stays on it. This small head version is designed to work with all types of hanging hardware (wire, D-rings, sawtooth hooks and keyhole hangers) and is particularly well suited to work with D-rings and keyhole hangers.

Note that these hangers require that the area behind the drywall where they are being installed has room for the wire, so they cannot be installed over top of a wall stud, or in plaster walls.

Removing the DecoHook is as simple as pulling it out in the reverse way that it was installed, and it only leaves a tiny hole behind. DecoHooks are available in two head sizes (small and large) as well as in two versions to carry either 20 lbs or 40 lbs maximum.

A: In fact you cannot get the hanger into a stud, as the hook needs space behind the wall so the top of the hook can anchor itself into the rear of the drywall. This is what gives DécoHooks their additional strength.

A: No. We just hung about 10 pictures with them and no stud needed. They are extremely easy to use - you simply push them through Sheetrock.

A: HI NIkki, we would not recommend it. Our DecoHooks™ were designed to securely hang items of wall decor like picture frames and canvases that lay flush to the wall and don't have any dynamic loads applied to them. Curtain rods not only do not sit flush to the wall which amplifies the forces pulling down on the fasteners, but they also have dynamic forces applied as the curtains are moved. For security and peace of mind we would recommend following the manufacturer's instructions for installation which would likely be a combination of wall anchor and screw. A: Removing the DécoHook™ hanger is basically the reverse of installing it. You can use the claw of a hammer under the top cap of the hook to pop it out of the wall a little bit (maybe 1/4") and then using your fingers you will be able to pull the hook cleanly out of the drywall. they don't go into the wall far enough to actually get the hook in. they only got about 3/4" in and won't budge after that even when I tried to use a hammer. brilliant idea, terrible execution

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we appreciate it! Unfortunately what you have described is one of the limitations of any kind of no-tools wall hook like the DecoHook. These require that the space behind the drywall be free and clear of any obstructions in order to install properly. Things like electrical conduit, piping, framing cross members or rigid insulation will make it impossible to install hooks like these because there simply is no place for it to go. For example, you will not be able to use these hooks on top of a stud. Unfortunately it's difficult to know what is behind the drywall sometimes, so for these occasions a product like a standard nail or anchor/screw is a better choice. Whoa!

I was so close to hiring a professional to hang my art. Then I spotted these and they worked so well! I can’t believe how easy it was and how secure they feel and I did it myself! lol It takes a little maneuvering to get them to go in and up but it wasn’t difficult at all. I’d imagine it not being a problem unless you have super thick sheet rock.

Never knew what monkey hooks were & couldn’t order them fast enough, so i went to my local target and found these, which are pretty much the same idea! Life changer & im a buyer for life. No tools required, each hook can hang up to 20 lbs, pretty easy to insert into your wall. Literally took me less than 20 minutes to hang my ikea mirror, i’m really happy! It seems very secure and know it won’t leave a ginormous hole in the wall when time comes to eitber redocorate or move.

I love how subtle these pins are and the fact that they can sustain a good amount of weight is perfect not to mention that these things are renter friendly leaving a small pin size hole in the wall that can easily be repaired with spackle.

While the hooks are a great way to securely hang items in drywall without using any tools, they do need some specific conditions to work properly. The primary condition is that they are used in drywall and that there is space available behind the drywall in the location they are being installed. As you pointed out the hooks need space to curve up on the back side of the drywall, so they won't work if there is a wall or stud directly behind the drywall. You can use a stud finder or tap the wall to make sure that you are not trying to install the hook over a stud. Hope that helps! - The UTR Team

Great for art

I use these to hang art on sheetrock walls. I used cheap nails for a long time, but with these I don't have to worry if something gets bumped and a nail falling out. Easy to install and look nice if whatever you are hanging doesn't cover the knob.

Didn't go into concrete apartment wall

Hi there, we're sorry that our DécoHooks™ didn't work for your application. As it says on the packaging, it's for use in drywall only. The reason that the DécoHooks are as strong as they are, and hold as much weight that the do, is because the top of the wire hook anchors itself to the rear side of the drywall. This does mean however, that in order to work, the drywall needs to have room behind it for the hook to go through, which means it also cannot be used in a situation where there is a stud directly behind the spot you want to hang your item. So why use a DécoHook vs a DécoNail™? In the end it's a balance between holding strength and convenience (no tools needed to install), vs the flexibility to drive the nail anywhere in the drywall. For a concrete wall, the only solution would be to use a product designed specifically to be used on hard wall surfaces such as concrete, cinder block or hardboard. Hope that helps.
