Q: Help cup is leaking. No dents around the cup and there is suction. Should I get regular size

submitted by Kayla - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi. I've noticed that if I have leaking problems it could be two things, not suctioned properly or the cup is full. I know for days 1 and 2 I need to empty the cup every 2-3 hours or I start leaking.

Q: I’ve never had kids but I have a high cervix. What size should I get?

submitted by Valentine - 6 years ago
  • A: Most brands do sell a different size for women who have given birth and for women who have not, but this brand's sizes work differently. The sizes for this particular brand are based on capacity. I feel like selling one for light to medium flow and medium to heavy flow is just marketing - why would anyone choose one that held less? Anyway, the height of your cervix doesn't matter for menstrual cups because it will sit very close to the vaginal opening. I've been using them for 11 years and I would never go back.

submitted byCurious - 6 years ago
  • A: The height of the cervix does matter because the smaller and/or shorter cups can move and get stuck or 'snug' near a high cervix. The smaller size may cause aggravation when you need to remove it....you may need to bear down and squat a lot while removing a size small cup. (Remember to pinch the base/bottom of the cup and don't 'yank' the stem when you remove.) I would say get the size regular for a high cervix plus normal or heavy flow. You could get the small size if your flow is very light and you don't mind 'going fishing' for the cup. (I am a beginner with cups so don't quote me on this... I heard a lot of personal stories about smaller cups being hard to remove. They don't always sit near the opening, and in many people's experience they will move up when exercising and sleeping. Some people use two different size cups for different phases of the menstrual period or one size for sleeping and another for exercising or heavy days. I wish there was a definitive final answer for those who don't know what size to get, but everyone's bodies are different. I say research the reviews, and decide based on cup dimensions and your personal flow.

Q: How much does it hold? Mine is full after 3 hrs. I have very heavy flows and am trying to find one that might hold more.

submitted by JPlotner3 - 5 months ago
  • A: I have heavy flows on day 1 and 2 and have to empty every 2-3 hours.

submitted byecofriendlygirl - 4 months ago

Q: I have a low cervix but I have a super heavy flow with clotting, too. What size should I get?

submitted by Angryparent - 11 months ago
  • A: If you have a low cervix the Small Cup would be our recommendation but you will need to empty it more frequently. You may also want to consider a small disc which holds more capacity and can be a more comfortable option for a lower cervix.

Q: Sincen when do they sell these cups in stores? ive never heard of them? do they hold the menstrual blood? do you empty the cup in the toilet? i just dont get it! How do they stop from spilling?

submitted by julie - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Julie, thank you so much for your question. We have been on shelves in Target since 2019! Saalt Cups collect menstrual flow rather than absorb like a traditional tampon. The Saalt Cup sits in the vaginal canal, below the cervix. When positioned properly, you won't even notice it's there. Once inserted, it molds to your internal shape so you can comfortably wear it all day or night, leak-free.If you have more specific questions, please reach out to our support team at sayhey@saalt.com!

It’s easy to insert, works well. I didn’t experience any leakage. It’s just a bit challenging to remove as you have to release the seal. I’m sure it’ll get easier with practice.

So this is the first time I use this brand. Before o used a cup that had a little silicone pull tab and it worked well but they were out of stock everywhere so I gave this one a try because I just can’t wear pads after cups. Today is the first day. I wore it for 9 hours straight and right before the shower I took it out. At first I could feel the seal trying to pull which was scary but I got it as close as I could to the entrance and once I was able to place my finger on the side inside I pressed it and I heard the seal break. Once the seal broke I pulled it out. Minor leakage which was very nice because my other cup had pretty bad leakage on my second day (today) and this only caused spotting. I give it 10/10.

No string getting in the way

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A good friend told me about menstrual cups about 10 years ago and at the time it sounded like a recipe for blood exploding everywhere. I never, ever wanted to try one even in passing until I was at target yesterday trying to find tampons for less than $10. Being a little older I have more of an adventurous mindset so I decided maybe this thing (saalt cup) will be awful but maybe it won’t, let’s see what happens. I can’t regret all my time using tampons and pads because I’m thankful we have access to those things here and they’ve always been there when I needed them. They are sooo expensive now but I’m thinking in relation to whole regions of women who have no access. That being said, the saalt cup is life-changing for someone with a heavy flow because a tampon never lasts all the way through the morning or afternoon and a pad sometimes isn’t enough overnight. I would wear overnight pads to work. I needed one of those astronaut diapers. This product is so much easier to use at any point day or night because when inserted correctly it’s invisible. No string hanging down, no humidity down there, easy to change on the toilet or in the shower. And it lasts a reasonable amount of time although at work I may still use a backup for a couple months. When it reaches capacity it seems to hold the blood in better than a tampon but I don’t want to take any chances. It was full this morning and only leaked a couple drops and allowed me to walk to the bathroom in time. I don’t know what menstrual cups were like 10 years ago but I can tell you this is the golden age right now.

I LOVE this cup. It’s so easy to insert, and take out. i got the regular size as an 18 yr old who’s never given birth and it’s perfect. I can’t feel it at all. no leakage at all, just a little spotting but you can prevent it with a liner or thin pad. overall definitely my favorite period product to use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I finally decided to go for a menstrual cup, and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner! I had trouble getting it out at first (and was late to work, maybe don't try to take it out for the first time 30 minutes before you have to leave haha) but once I figured it out it was a breeze. I've always hated the way tampons felt, and pads always made me feel gross and itchy. This changed the game for me, even with a slight learning curve, I had no leaks!!!! I didn't feel like I was wearing a diaper!! I didn't have to change it in the work bathroom!!! I highly recommend.

Difficult to remove

Jess - 2 months ago, Verified purchaser
Definitely depends on your own anatomy as to whether this will work. For me, I loved how smooth the cup feels and it causes no discomfort when inserting and wearing it. However, I absolutely STRUGGLED to remove it. It did hold a lot of liquid and it had no odor afterwards. I'll likely just need to look into other sizes/lengths.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really didn’t think I’d like this. And honestly planned on returning it since it’d get a full refund. The first time I put it in it felt a little funny. You have to make sure to twist it and create a suction. Other than that, this thing works! It’s brought so much relief not having to worry about changing my tampon all the time or bleeding through my pants. It’s also great not having to wear a pad at night. I absolutely love it!! It’s also not that hard to put in just fold it like in half and it’s perfect.

It is extremely difficult to get out. I don’t even want to wear it again. I tried it twice. The longer I kept it in the higher it went up and more difficult it was to take out.

I was really scared after reading some reviews about the cup getting stuck and being hard to remove—and that’s exactly what happened at first. But once I figured out how to break the seal created by the vacuum, it came out easily. I stayed calm (very important) and used a paper towel for a better grip, which worked much better than toilet paper. This is my first time using a cup, and I’m surprised by how comfortable it is—I don’t feel it at all once it’s in. Insertion was easy, but removal definitely takes some practice.

I’ve been using saalt cups for about 5 years now and I will never go back. Having a period isn’t so inconvenient anymore! I never have to spend money on period products (the only reasons I’ve replaced my cup is I lost the first one and my period started being heavier while on my second, so I decided to try out the bigger size) So far the bigger size is working well for me!

attended a wedding the other day and brought my cup with me, knowing my period was due soon, but I didn’t expect it to start that day. During the car ride, I had bad cramps but no blood, and I started seriously regretting only bringing my cup and not packing any tampons just in case. As soon as I got to the venue, I headed straight to the bathroom, and of course, like clockwork, my period started. I started panicking a bit since it was my first time using the cup on my actual period, and I wasn’t fully confident it would protect me from leaks or that I’d insert it correctly, even though I’d done a practice run a week or two earlier. On my first attempt, it didn’t pop open properly, so I took it out, rinsed it with water from my bottle, and cleaned my hands. For my second try, I used the punch-down fold instead of the C-fold and I felt that pop. I rotated it to check, and it felt firm and resisted when I tugged slightly, so I knew it was sealed. Still, I was nervous. I sat back down with my parents, absolutely terrified it would leak through during the wedding. But 4 hours later, after dancing, eating, and socializing, I did a bathroom check and… no leaks! When I took it out, there was still plenty of room left. Honestly, the Salt Cup saved me. First time using it during a real period, and it came through 100%. :ribbon:

This cup is amazing! I used Diva cup for years, but after kids I found it uncomfortable and it caused cramping. The Saalt cup is shorter, which seems to work well for me. The stem was uncomfortable, but I also had to cut the stem off my dive cup. I cut the stem off my saalt cup, and now I can’t feel it at all. It’s comfortable, and easier to insert than diva cup.

Easy to use and to clean, the cloth bag Is lovely, and the pretty packaging was a plus. After using a less-than-comfortable competitor cup for several years, I’m so glad I tried the Saalt cup!
