Artisans hand-hone the blades using the venerable four-step Honbazuke method. This fine attention to detail translates into a work of art that is the ultimate in precision cutting. The blade is balanced by a substantial D-shaped handle made of black pakkawood. Effortless to hold, the classic Japanese “D”-shape handle offers a comfortable grip for stress-free cutting. Functionally elegant
I chose this knife specifically for a few reasons. The detail on the blade, as well as the length, were perfect for my needs. The shape of the handle is, in my opinion, much better than traditional straight-handled knives - the little bit of contour helps it feel comfortable using a number of grips. The edge has yet to need anything more than honing maintenance (using it in a professional kitchen). The only problem I've faced so far is getting everyone to stop trying to take it and use it themselves.

Great all purpose knife
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this knife for carving chicken, duck, beef, etc. it’s really great for that. Its thin but sturdy blade makes slicing very easy. I also use it to Alice vegetables and it works great for that too.

Best slicing knife!

nice long blade
I am very happy with this slicer. The handle is very comfortable to hold. Its a little bit thicker than the typical D shaped Japanese knife handle. The blade is long and thin, a little longer than the average slicing knife. The Damascus style layered blade provides precision slicing. The blade stays sharp for a long time and is easy to maintain. I love to use it for cooked meats and raw fish.

Slices through everything
This knife is so beautiful and is able to slice through everything because it's both long and sharp. I love the handle on this knife because it is very comfortable to use. The blade is intricately designed and you can see the craftsmanship that was put into making it.
