Pro Tip: RINSE the filter first. Perfect fountain
I purchased this fountain in 2018 and it's still in perfect working order. It's extremely well built and would only break if I dropped it. The motor is also still working well. One thing I noticed about other reviews is the charcoal filter; it needs to be RINSED first to eliminate any charcoal dust that is in it. Once the water runs clear, then assemble the fountain. This fountain serves two happy cats.

What a Waste
I bought this fountain and was so excited, but it turned out to be an absolutely waste. Within the first month, slime built up that you can’t scrub off. Within 2 months, the motor broke. I used all their products and clean my pets bowl religiously. It’s also not very quiet. I was excited to a bowl that was dishwasher safe, but really just wasted a bunch of money.

We're so sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your fountain! It is crucial to mention that if you are experiencing slime in your fountain, this is most often the result of built up saliva within the pump. This can be resolved by fully disassembling and thoroughly scrubbing both the fountain and pump under warm water with soap. The pump will need to be disassembled into four pieces as shown in your manual. This will very likely also resolve the difficulties you've had with your pump, though as your pump is currently not operating it may also help to add a dab of food safe oil (olive oil, etc.) to the final removeable piece of the pump before reassembling it. Once the pump is fully reassembled, fully immerse it in water and plug it in. It should come on right away. We have been using this fountain for at least 15 years. It survived our 3 water loving Maine Coons, 3 of them! and currently is doing well with the 13 cats in our rescue. So much so that we bought a second on for the motorhome because I did not want to move one between the house and camper and risk breaking it.

Stopped working after 3 months
I've always used petsafe water fountains, but this one has by far been the worst. The pump stopped working after only 3 months. The hard water build up on the ceramic is pretty significant and won't come off, even with vinegar/water. I would recommend a different model.

My cats use this and it works just fine
I bought this five years ago. It's been running continuously for all that time. I clean the pump once in a while, but I will admit I don't clean it as often as recommended. I clean it when the pressure goes down. Easy to clean. I rinse the carbon filters before use as recommended and do not have any problems with the filters. I had a senior cat who used it and now a kitten who uses it. If the pump ever wears out, I will replace it. I recommend this product.

Hard to clean.
Hard to clean. Gets slimy quickly. I will use the bottom bowl as just that...a bowl because it is heavy and my cats can't knock it over. Way over priced. Disappointing.

Made my Cats very sick
I bought this less then a month ago for my Cats and noticed they were all getting Diarrhea and Vomiting. I have changed the filter once since the original one. There is a silver-gray substance leaking thru the ceramic from the inside wall and I am wondering if this could be lead in the ceramic, I have removed the fountain completely as I don't want my Cats to get poisoned from this. Please just be aware so your Pet can stay safe.

Loud, but our cats love it!
We have 2 cats and upgraded to the Pagoda from the 1/2 gallon plastic fountain. It’s very sturdy and easy to clean. It is quite a bit louder than other fountains. We refer to it as the living room “water feature”. It doesn’t bother us or our cats but you should be aware before buying. Both of our cats enjoy it and drink from it regularly. We did have an issue with the included carbon filter depositing lots of carbon dust on the bottom of the reservoir, but after buying replacement ones and rinsing them per instructions we haven’t had any other issues.

Flowing Water
I bought the Drinkwell Pagoda Fountain for my two cats. It holds enough water for both of them. The flowing water attracts them and they drink more water than if the water is just in a bowl. This is very important for their health.

Almost Perfect Fountain
The Drinkwell Pagoda Fountain is perfect for our Maine Coon cat as he loves running water. I owned the same fountain in white 7 years ago but dropped & broke it while cleaning it. It was a quite perfect fountain. I purchased the Himalayan Blue & absolutely love the color! The fountain & pump are easy to maintain. We clean the fountain with vinegar & the pump we clean with a soapy toothbrush. It is also easy to put back together. The motor is quite & creates a good flow. We noticed a huge difference in the new fountain. The pagoda tower is not as wide at the base & does not fill the depressed area outline in the center bottom. In our first fountain the water ran out the side spouts hitting the wider tower base sides with water flowing quietly & smoothly into the base bowl. The new fountain tower is narrower at the base so the water coming out the spouts does not hit the sides of the tower so the water drops directly into the bowl below causing a loud splashing sound. Just Too Loud! I’d give a 5-Star rating if it wasn’t so loud.

Looks great!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This fountain looks great and works even better. Super easy to set up too. My cats were scared of it at first but got used to it pretty quickly and now they have no problems drinking from it. I absolutely love it!

Definitly not serene and quiet
I wish that I had waited to order until after the review on October 8! The noice from the water is horrible! I live in a studio, i cannot sleep with the fountain plugged in because it is so loud from across the house! It seems to e great quality, i’ve had this brand in the past and they have not been this loud, but man…the design of this one is horrible!! Be ready to have it in another room with the door closed!

So noisy
I don't know how people can stand this fountain, the water noise is so loud, there is nothing "serene" about it, it's driving me crazy. There is no way to adjust the water flow. I'm about to pitch this fountain into the trash.

Great fountain, but filters are absolutely awful!
The fountain portion of this product is excellent. My Maine Coon loves to drink out of the water fountain. Unfortunately the carbon and foam filters are absolutely awful. As other reviewers mention, (look at the reviews for the carbon filters) the carbon filters break open after only a few days of use and charcoal is everywhere rendering the fountain useless. Consequently the time spent cleaning the water fountain properly is a serious commitment. The pictures included show what regularly happens to my fountain after only 1 week, sometimes even after a few days. Unfortunately customer service is useless and do not offer any recommendations, other than to use the fountain without filters. Previously these filters were quite well constructed and would never break open. Within the last couple years the quality has completely deteriorated. I want to continue using this water fountain for my cat, but I have finally had enough. Other buyers beware!

It is not usual for the carbon to "break down" while the fountain is in use; however, it is not unusual for the carbon to grind off somewhat when the package is in transit. The pieces of carbon may rub up against each other which can cause carbon dust to grind off. For this reason, we recommend that before putting the carbon filter in the fountain that it is rinsed under a tap for a minute or two until the water runs completely dry. This will avoid the carbon stains that you're experiencing.
