Thin but weighty and NO SLIP. Works great!
I was looking for a heavier weight pad with good slip resistance. reviews re smell were concerning. After sniffing in the store I bought the pad. it is perfect for our use and has NO SMELL. A win all around.

Smells terrible
This is pad smells absolutely horrible! We gave it a couple of weeks and it did not get any better. Thought about returning it but didn't want it in my car so I decided to just throw it away. Thankfully our rug is washable so we could get the residual smell out of it. I wouldn't put this in my house again if you paid me. It is making my trash container stink!

DO NOT BUY THIS RUG PAD!! THE SMELL IS ATROCIOUS! I tried to give it a chance. I kept thinking 3 weeks it will get better. It doesn't! Please stop carrying this product in your stores.

Smells like a dead animal
I had this in a room by itself for three weeks to air out. I opened the door three weeks later and there were 20-30 house flies in that room. Not sure how they got in but the rug pad smells like a dead animal even after three weeks. Disgusting. Wish I would have read the reviews before wasting time and smelling up a room in my house. Get rid of this junk, target.

Works well, no odor in mine?!
I bought this a couple months ago. Works well under a small rug on hardwood. Grip is good, though not perfect and does add some cushioning to the rug. I needed something to help with the echo in a small office and this definitely helped along with obviously the rug itself. I was surprised to see all the reviews complaining about the odor because I did not experience that whatsoever.

Do not buy this!
This smells absolutely awful. I tried airing it out in the wind, sun, added baking soda to see if that would absorb the stench. It’s terrible. The smell gets on your skin when you touch this so you have to scrub with soap several times to remove it. Do NOT recommend this.

Thanks for sharing the feedback on our rug pad products. Our non-skid backing does have a distinct smell from the rubber backing. This smell is inherent to the product and is considered part of the normal process and will typically dissipate over a couple days. Recently, we have received numerous complaints across all our selling channels that the odor is more than what we would normally expect. We are taking the complaints seriously and are pursuing several initiatives to determine the root cause of this stronger smell. Based on the information we have to date; we believe the odor is most likely contaminated dye that is added to the latex for the color. This was identified several months back by our vendor, and the dye was returned. It’s possible we have some older inventory that was not disposed of that could have been part of this isolated event. Our quality team is in the process of checking all inventory 3 months or older for the offensive odor and ensure these items are pulled from our shippable inventory. Wrong item, twice!
I have ordered the same item twice, a Karastan 8' x 12' rug pad. Twice I have received a Mohawk 8' x 10'. The first was a delivery from the store, the second from the local distribution center. I know the rug pad exists, I have seen the empty place in the store where it should be. This should not be a difficult task to ship a correct item.

DON'T BUY!! ZERO STARS!!!
This pad REEKS!! You can't even be in the room. I've had it for months waiting for it to off-gas. It's bad, folks. Industrial poison. Can't even describe it. Couldn't sleep in the room with it. Poor dogs having to lay right over it. 😞 Even customer service was spraying their area when I left. They agreed something is wrong with it. It's unacceptable! Unfortunately, Target will not return because it's outside the 90 days. Needed to hire movers to move the bed to help me get it out and the wait time put me outside their return window. $40 down the tube. You can't use it for anything. It's awful. And pay attn to the reviews!! Karastan backs their product. So, my advice is to skip it. The odor does not go away!!! If you've purchased it return it as soon as you can. That Target is even selling this ought to be a crime. You can't reuse it in anyway. It's just trash now. Zero stars. Zero.

Stinky, rolled and balled up mess. Period.
As many people noted, the smell is horrendous. I have extreme allergies and man. I did let 2 and 3 of 3 air out in my garage for about 2 months before install as my 1st one is still offgassing in my kiddos playroom 😒. My worst beef is I had installed these together prevent my rugs from bunching up and they Do.Not.Work. and matter of fact bunch up to the point that I trip nearly every time I am walking through the kiddos rooms. Like trip hazard when holding a baby. 0 stars. Would NOT recommend which is such a shame because I have cut them down and thus are not returnable. Boo.

To get the optimal use out of the dual surface rug pad, it needs to be laid according to flooring type. For carpet, place the rug pad under your rug with the felt side facing down toward the floor. For hard surface flooring, place the rug pad under your rug with the non-slip latex rubber side facing down toward the floor.
