Keep your loved ones safe and secure in style with The Stairway 42W Series Safety Baby and Dog Gate from Summer by Ingenuity. Measuring 28 tall, this white metal safety gate conveniently helps contain children and pets while complementing your home decor. It fits openings 28 to 42 wide and is specially designed to use at the top of stairs as well as doorways and hallways, with a locking indicator for added security. The extra-wide door opens the full width of the gate with just one hand, making it easy to walk through with a no-threshold design that minimizes tripping. Over the stairs, the door stopper helps prevent the door from swinging outward. This gate is easy to install using the included Precision Fit template, which helps ensure a successful installation with no measuring or unnecessary drill holes. Recommended tools for hardware installation (not included): drill, Phillips-head screwdriver, pencil.

A: Thank you for your question about the Summer by Ingenuity The Stairway Baby Gate - 42W Series! This Gate can be installed with one side wall and the other side railing, but you would have to drill into both places to safely install it.

Easy to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great for the top of the stairway. I like that it secures in place without having to drill any holes. It can be easily opened with one hand so you're able to still hold baby and easily open the gate.

Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend

Toddlers can open it
Build quality, installation, both fine. But, my 15 mo old can slide it open with her index finger. Kind of defeats the purpose if they can open it by themselves. All of our other gates have a 2 step unlock mechanism (push button and slide etc) but not this one.

Does what it supposed to
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently recieved the Door Way 42W series and I really like how this.works. Very easy to use and set up, also moving it to a different location. The little gate is made nice and sturdy. Seems very durable and made to last a long time. Its a.perfect size also to fit in any doorway or a place that the measurements fits perfectly. If you need safety this is the product you need. I would definitely recommend this product to all my family and friends with small children or can even use for pets.

It's so easy to install the baby gate and once it was in it helped knowing we had a safe gate for the dogs and toddlers couldn't break through. Really sturdy and looks great too.

Easy to install, no threshold gate
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This gate was easy to install, with a template for mounting the brackets to the wall. (You do need a drill though!) The hinge mounting hardware seems sturdy. We have a split level with many different staircases so it’s very nice that the gate can expand to the varying widths for each stairway. I love the fact that there is no bottom threshold to prevent tripping hazards. Definitely a must for a top of the stairs baby gate!

Simple, straightforward and safe!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This gate was easy to install (did it by myself) and worked perfectly at the top of my stairs. My two toddlers (3 and 1) cannot open it and the gate also LOOKS nice which is a plus. My last gate finally broke because of how it had to be lifted, and I would have to teach babysitters how to even use it. This one is much more straightforward and easy to use.

Gate for stairs
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good slim stairway child gate. My baby isn’t mobile yet but i started child proofing my house and I like that this stairway gate is slim and not bulky. It also works well and seems sturdy without going any damage to the stairs.

Great for curious toddlers

We have ours at the door from our garage to the backyard- there is this weird step up there and we needed to keep the dog contained, but have something even the kids could easily walk through without having to step over. This is perfect- it opens and closes with ease, feels very sturdy, and looks simple enough to not be an eyesore in the doorway. Very nice!

Perfect gate for top of stairs!

I really like the design of the gate specifically in regards to use at the top of the stairs, because it can be used like a door, without the bar at the bottom that is a trip hazard. Super easy to install and very sturdy.

Clean looking gate to block off areas securely
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this gate to block our mischievous toddler out of the kitchen when we are cooking or not in there. This keeps that room blocked from her safely without having to keep chasing her out of there. The gate is clean, nice weight to it and easy to install. My hubby took about 20 mins or so to get it up securely. It seems well made and durable. Would recommend definitely if you are looking to baby proof your home.

Great Baby Gate!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm so happy with this gate! We needed a sturdy gate for the top of our stair to prevent our very mobile son from walking down. This gate was easy to intall and brought all the necessary hardware. I love that this gate does not have a bar at the bottom that can become a tripping hazard.
