Crispy Squares have a great nutrition profile on paper—15g of protein, only 140 calories, and they’re gluten-free, plus they offer small boosts of calcium, iron, and potassium. Unfortunately, the taste didn’t quite work for me. The chocolate flavor felt a bit off & I was also disappointed by the 200mg of sodium, which felt high for such a small treat. While the stats are solid, the flavor just didn’t match the promise.

It was thick and hearty while also being low calorie, so I felt like I was getting a good amount of food with little guilt. It was fresh and enjoyable out of the sealed bag even after it had been sitting in its box for a few weeks after I received it. My only gripe is that it still has that powdery gritty texture/taste that all protein bars seem to have. After the delicious chocolate and the airy crisp have all been chewed up, I’m left with the telltale aftertaste of protein, which I am not the biggest fan of. The milk came in handy at that point.
