Super bold flavor, 4 stars because it's not my preference, but can definitely make it work with some milk and sugar. With the additives, I can distinguish the chocolatey notes. Grind was perfect for a French press.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I enjoyed 1850 Black Gold coffee, although I don't know if I would replace my normal Folgers brew with this variety. The packaging is uniquely mostly paper with the canister being recyclable once emptied, so that's great for sustainability. The brewing instructions say to use 2 tablespoons of coffee to 6 oz of water which is double what most coffees suggest, and I feel like it's far too strong of a recipe as 1 tablespoon still tastes great while using less product. My initial cup after opening the canister produced a lot of CO2 bubbles in my Chemex brewer which speak to its freshness, so the coffee was on the bitter side. Subsequent cups brewed days later tasted much more mellow as the coffee de-gassed. It has a bold flavor with subtle berry notes which was nice, so if you like more body to your coffee, this is better than your normal cup of Folgers.

I personally felt it overpowered any syrup and milk I put in so it was a little too much for me. It brewed nicely though, so the ground is perfect. It is slightly more acidic than I am used to - I did get some heartburn after finishing my cup. If I am looking for a deeper flavor with chocolate syrups and flavorings, this will be my go to!

He’s a straight black or adds it to his protein shake drinker. I made this for him and he said that you could taste a hint of chocolate with the deep Folgers dark coffee flavor. For me, it is a tad bitter, but still good. I do love the container with the reusable lid and the fact it is made out of paper is really awesome. It is easy to make, like the standard cup of coffee.

The flavor isn't really jumping out at me , it's just ok to be honest. But it's strong , I'll give it that. Definitely stronger than what I'm used to, so that was a bit of a wake up call. It's a bold coffee and I appreciate the dark chocolate notes but I need to get used to the intensity so I will continue to try it.

It has slight hints of chocolate flavor with a smoky aftertaste. Nice bitter flavor. Was very easy to prepare and nice, consistent flavor.
