Not durable
really liked this sunscreen at first because it controlled oil and felt matte on my acne-prone skin. However, after about 2 months of use, the formula started separating. A yellowish oily liquid comes out first, followed by the white cream, and shaking does not fix it. I stored the replacement tube carefully at room temperature, but the separation still happened and kept getting worse over time. The texture also became more oily and no longer had the original “dry touch” finish. Because sunscreen effectiveness depends on an even formula, I no longer feel confident using it for proper sun protection. This is disappointing given the price.

Hello Marie. Thank you for sharing your experience with La Roche Posay Anthelios Clear Skin Dry Touch Face Sunscreen for Acne Prone Skin - SPF 60 - 3.0 fl oz. we understand your disappointment, and it is truly frustrating when a product you’ve invested in doesn't provide the peace of mind you expect—especially when it comes to something as vital as sun protection. Sunscreen is a cornerstone of skin health, and feeling like you can't rely on the formula to apply evenly is understandably unsettling. At L'Oréal, we take the efficacy and sensorial experience of our formulations very seriously. While I don't have access to specific internal quality databases or your personal purchase history, we can offer some guidance on how to address this: Check the "Period After Opening" (PAO): Ensure the product hasn't exceeded its shelf life (usually indicated by a small open jar icon with a number like 12M). Sunscreen filters and stabilizers can degrade over time or if exposed to extreme heat. Storage Conditions: If the sunscreen was stored in a very warm environment (like a car or direct sunlight), the emulsion can sometimes separate, affecting how evenly it spreads. We hope this information has been helpful and we appreciate your feedback.

Hello Yoselynn. Thank you for sharing your experience with La Roche Posay Anthelios Clear Skin Dry Touch Face Sunscreen for Acne Prone Skin - SPF 60 - 3.0 fl oz. We are sorry to hear that this product is not performing as expected. "Pilling" or "peeling" can happen if too much product is applied or if you are layering with other products such as a moisturizer, serums or liquid foundation. We recommend if using with multiple products, you let each individual product fully absorb before applying the next product. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us to better understand how we can improve. We will be sure to pass your comments along.

Not my favorite
The sunscreen doesn’t blend well into my skin. It dries quickly, but then it starts to crack and look patchy. It also burns my eyes quite a lot

Product pills so badly with and without makeup and other products, as well as has a slight burn initially and leaves face looking dry not matte. Would not recommend as someone who has very oily skin.

weird...
TERRIBLE. Ive used this product 3 times now and each time it becomes crumbly. You cant have anything on your face whats so ever. Even natrual skin oils cause this to crumble. Such a bizare experience to have.

Hello jade. Thank you for sharing your experience with La Roche Posay Anthelios Clear Skin Dry Touch Face Sunscreen for Acne Prone Skin - SPF 60 - 1.7 fl oz. We are so sorry to hear that this product does not meet your expectations. At times, if this very hydrating Sunscreen is layered under or over another hydrating skincare product that has not fully absorbed into skin, it can cause the moisturizer to ball up or “pill”. To help avoid this, we recommend allowing the first product you apply in your skincare routine to fully dry and absorb into skin until it feels dry to the touch before layering on the next product. We hope this information helps and we appreciate your feedback.

Love it
The best sunscreen I have used for oily skin, after hours of having applied it on the face it lasts and does not get into the eyes. I haven’t had acne outbreaks.

Lots of pilling!!
Pastey and hard to spread. After blending and drying it pills so so badly. I tried putting it on before moisturizer, after moisturizer, no products underneath, no matter what it still was pilling horribly. For the price, I was very disappointed, will be returning. Only good thing I can say is that there is no greasy feeling.

Hello PaigeS! We are genuinely sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with our Anthelios Clear Skin Dry Touch Face Sunscreen for Acne Prone Skin SPF 60. It's truly disappointing when a product designed to protect your skin ends up causing such difficulties with application, and we understand your frustration with its pastey texture and particularly the pilling you experienced. We know how important it is for a daily sunscreen to integrate seamlessly into your routine, and it sounds like this one did not. We formulate our Anthelios Clear Skin Dry Touch Sunscreen to deliver high SPF protection with a matte, non-greasy finish, specifically for those with acne-prone skin who are looking to avoid shine and excess oil. While this formulation is designed to provide that dry-touch feel you appreciated, we deeply regret that it led to such significant pilling issues for you, regardless of how you tried to incorporate it into your regimen. Your feedback about the texture, spreadability, and pilling is incredibly valuable, and we appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed observations. We understand your decision to return the product, as we want every experience with our skincare to be a positive one.

Makes eyes burn and skin incredibly dry
Makes my eyes burn, does not feel like it’s suited for the face even though it is specifically branded as a face lotion. It made my skin feel extremely dry and made break outs often worse. It also had a white layer to it and didn’t get soaked in by my skin. I wasn’t able to layer makeup on top.

Turns white and forms clumps!
Decided to start a new routine and bought the full routine recommended for my skin type by the AI skin analysis tool. In the morning I apply the Vitamin C serum, followed by the Effaclar Mat daily moisturizer for oily skin and leave everything to dry for a few minutes. Great. Once I then apply the Athelios clear skin sunscreen, everything turns white and starts clumping together and peeling. I then have to rub off the clumps, essentially removing all the 3 layers from my face. Very frustrating and disappointing since I am used to using a moisturizer with sunscreen daily and just wasted money on this but will need to look for a different sunscreen that will actually blend well with the other two products.

Hello Nhingi202! We truly regret the pilling experience you're having with our Anthelios Clear Skin Oil Free Sunscreen when layered with your other products. We understand how frustrating this can be, especially when building a new routine. This "pilling" often occurs when products don't have enough time to fully absorb between applications or when certain ingredients react on the skin's surface. To help, we recommend allowing each product to dry completely before applying the next, and trying smaller amounts of each product with a gentle, patting motion. We hope these tips allow our sunscreen to integrate smoothly into your regimen, providing the protection you need.

Surprisingly excellent … highly recommend
This is the first sunscreen I have ever liked … I do not mind putting it on when I am going to be in the sun! My skin absorbs it well … my face is not greasy after using it and I honestly forget that I have it on! AND I make sure I ALWAYS pack it where ever I go … and that’s a first for me.

Pills
Doesn’t leave a white cast but pills horribly on the skin. It is good for sensitive skin though because it has not broken me out, but there are other products that are way better

Issues with the formula
This sunscreen did not suit my skin. I have oily skin, its not too bad with oil control, but I did have issues with it pilling even when used alone or with other products. Also it did irritate my eyes. For those reasons I did not repurchase. Really hope they change their formulations here in the states, as I know oversees they have better formulations for those with oily skin and that don’t cause these issues. Especially for the price point, better quality needs to be delivered.
