Hello! The Otter is alive and well! We went away from built in screen protection in the Defender Series case with the iPhone X and newer devices in order to allow the features of the devices themselves to function optimally. The Defender Series XT does not include a belt clip in the box, but instead comes with a voucher code right in the package. Although there is enough clearance for you to set your iPhone/Otter combo face up on a flat surface without the camera lenses making contact, you are certainly correct that a direct hit could potentially yield a discouraging outcome.
