A: yeah, it can be put on wheels. Any wheels for wire shelving with one-inch diameter posts will work. Screw Diameter 3/8"

Q: can this be used as two, shorter, utility shelving units? Or are there 4 long poles that can't be disconnected?

A: it comes with 4 pairs of top and bottom poles that screw together. The "bottom" poles have levelling screws, the top poles have plastic caps. But you can technically use them as two smaller units. they will just be "incomplete"

Ordered two. One came damaged beyond recognition. Second came a day later, box was damaged and one shelf was bent. Too heavy to bother returning (for now). Note - lots of questions regarding the confusing weight-limit specs. See my photo (and it’s also stated in the instructions: DOCUMENTED WEIGHT LIMIT = 350 PER SHELF (1,750 total), not 70/350 like some of the answers state.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t. Put together furniture is a gamble…and I lost this time. One of the shelves is bent. I didn’t notice it until the shelf rack was almost complete. Too late and too much of a hassle to repackage and bring back to Target. I even picked up the wire shelves at Target, hoping to avoid shipping damage. There were no outward marks on the box (i.e. footprints) that would have indicated manhandling of the product. This was clearly someone not caring about the quality of theit work. Paid for a 5 shelf rack, but only got a 4 shelf one.

I first got these wire shelves from Target in different sizes over 15 years ago. I go back every couple of years to Target to get another one as I need more storage. (We're going to need a bigger shed. grin) I add the optional casters so the shelves are easy to move around. Alera Optional Casters For Wire Shelving SW790004 @MBNative said they could not find them on Target web site. (Target doesn't stock them in store like they used to but a big box hardware store might.) If you loose the cone shelf clips they can be found on-line. There are times that I took a shelf down. Then, a couple of years later needed the shelf again, and I could not find the original cone clips. Target has a great price. Even with the optional casters Target's price is less than other stores.
