A: I don't think you're doing it wrong. I've tried to get this right so many times. The directions don't work. I've been able to put together so many things correctly, but this one doesn't work.

A: I had the exact same issue until I followed the directions of a commenter which said “Don't listen to the instructions....When installing, keep one ends loose. ( Preferably the one on the end of the thinner side) Then, when you twist to tighten it, the rod will tighten into the rods End and against the wall.

A: Watch the online installation video as step 4 of the printed instructions is wrong. You need to rotate the *entire* rod towards you as the last step (after turning the short rod in step 3).

A: Don't listen to the instructions....When installing, keep one end (finial) loose. Then, when you twist to tighten it, the rod will tighten into the finial and against the wall.

A: Bought this rod as well and it does not tighten at all. The rod is not made correctly. Returning in the morning.

The adhesives are not necessary for installation of the product, and were added for a while to help ensure each endcap was contacting the wall during the installation process. By following the steps below, the item can be reinstalled simply and easily without the adhesive being necessary: 1. Twist the rod to unlock and remove from current installation. 2. To reinstall, turn endcaps down fully onto the rod before beginning. 3. Extend the rod into new location and ensure endcaps are touching the walls. 4. Twist the two rods in opposite directions to lock the length in place. 5. Twist the small diameter rod toward you to apply tension until it is secure in place.
