Q: Can the charging base be on the ground or a counter, or does it have to be mounted on a wall?

A: I have mine sitting on the floor. Just looked and don't see any screw holes for wall mounting. Holds a charge VERY well.

Q: What is the approximate lifetime battery on this? I have not had luck with these batteries holding a full charge for more than 1 mintue after a couple of months of use. Thank you!

A: Hello Courtney, I am sorry to hear the CHV1410L is not working after a couple of months in use. Battery operated units life expectancy is 2-5 years. We do recommend to fully charge the unit before the first use and after every use to plug it into the charger and leave it in until your next use. Another thing we have noticed is when placed on the charger make sure the unit is on OFF or it will not charge. A: I have had mine for a couple years now and it's 'sucking power' runs a good 10 minutes-steady. It might be longer but I've never vacuumed with it CONTINUOUSLY for longer than that.

Q: When charging I don't see a light that comes on so I would I know it completely charged

A: The light is located on the handle nearest the charging base. The LED will be on when charging and when it's completely charged the LED light will turn off. Please make sure the unit is on off when charging or it will not charge at all.

I think the suction is not strong I think the rectangular suction piece shape prevents more focused suction effort The battery is embedded in the vacuum cleaner and once the battery weakens, you will have to discard the vacuum cleaner.

The model before this one (dark grey) was much better quality. We had it for 5 or 6 years and were much happier with that model. Not sure if quantity over quality is the case now but this one just is not as good.

Turns off automatically within 1 minute . Suction is very weak . Charger station is not sturdy when the device is placed on top . Does not lock in like a magnet . Does not pick up any hair or even cereal crumbs . Will be retuning immediately.

Came broken, and they refunded us less than what we paid, so we had to get a price match. Never refunded the shipping even though we paid for it and had to go in person to get it sorted anyway. Buy this somewhere else - it doesn’t come with the wall mount that it’s supposed to, and it’s the same price other places with the mount included.

We used this almost daily for about 6 months. Suddenly, it stopped working. It still turns out and makes the normal noise, but it does not suction at all anymore. It was a good run, but I'd recommend investing in a different handheld vac if you plan to use it daily.

We bought this to replace a prior version. The charging base is fine for us and we do not want to hang it on a wall. The instructions say you can hang it using the provided wall mount, but there is no wall mount included. We tried to register the product online but it is impossible to do so without a serial number and product date that is now where to be found. We called the help line and got a guy from India whose English was poor who said you have to take the device apart to get the number? That's not appropriate. He said you don't have to register it. Why make it so complicated? Hope it works well.

We've had this handheld vacuum for about 6 months and use it occasionally. Over the last month, it has started shutting off after a few seconds even though it is fully charged. I've checked the charging connectors and have tried cleaning the filters carefully without luck. I looked for online tips and this appears to be a common problem without a fix. Because this is my second B&D handheld and the other one lasted several years, I expected to get more than 6 months of sporadic use. There is no zero star option so I am giving it 1 star.

It is loud and kind of on the large side for a Dustbuster. The wall mount hook was missing but box looked completely unopened. It’s expensive for something that has no attachments. The suction is good and it works…for now. We’ll see how long it lasts and if it holds a charge for a decent amount of time.

We have always liked Black & Decker's Dust Busters and when our latest one could no longer hold a charge, we quickly bought a new one (Model CHV14OL). It works wonderfully, better than the earlier version. However, the packaging does not show how it is charged. It came with a base to set the vacuum on which would need a shelf or desktop. That was not convenient or practical for us as we have always hung it on a wall near our washing machine. I made a bracket that fits around the old wall mount and holds the new charging base for charging and standby.

Worked great for about 3 months and now it won’t run for more than a few seconds before cutting off. Apparently a lot of people have this problem. It works great until it doesn’t. Expected to get more life out of it than this.

I was surprised by the instability of the charging base when a vacuum is attached. One missing pad on the base is only part of the problem. The unit is too heavy for the base. The charging indicator is helpful, but how am I supposed to know if it’s fully charged? The instructions are just drawings without any explanation. There was supposed to be a wall mount bracket, but it’s missing.
