Q: Can the charging base be on the ground or a counter, or does it have to be mounted on a wall?

A: I have mine sitting on the floor. Just looked and don't see any screw holes for wall mounting. Holds a charge VERY well.

A: Thats weird- I've had mine for a couple YEARS and I can vacuum up stuff for 5-10 minutes and it's still going.

We do recommend to fully charge the unit before the first use and after every use to plug it into the charger and leave it in until your next use. Another thing we have noticed is when placed on the charger make sure the unit is on OFF or it will not charge. A: The light is located on the handle nearest the charging base. The LED will be on when charging and when it's completely charged the LED light will turn off. Please make sure the unit is on off when charging or it will not charge at all.

A: Cleaning the Black & Decker CHV1410L handheld vacuum is a straightforward process. Here are the steps to clean it effectively: Turn Off and Unplug: Ensure the vacuum is turned off and unplugged from the charger before you start cleaning. Remove the Dust Bowl: Press the release button to detach the dust bowl from the main unit. Empty the Dust Bowl: Dispose of the collected debris and dust into a trash bin. Remove the Filter: Take out the filter from the dust bowl. The CHV1410L typically uses a washable filter. Clean the Filter: Tap the filter gently to remove loose dust and debris. You can wash the filter with warm, soapy water if it is very dirty. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to air dry completely before reinserting it into the vacuum. Do not use the vacuum with a wet filter. Despite being rated at a lower power than our 10-year-old B&D Dustbuster, it seems to be more powerful than the old one. Maybe it is because the battery finally failed on the old one, but this new edition is a great little hand vacuum. It is relatively lightweight and well-balanced. I also like that there are no loose attachments. The extension nozzle and brush tip are attached, so they are always handy if needed and will never get lost. My wife likes the fashionable color of it too. She's glad the utilitarian black of our old one has been updated. Here's hoping for another 10 years of service.

I bought this to be able to clean up a litterbox space that is underneith a bathroom sink--and it does so fantastically. Also been useful to quickly vacuum up dirt or other things in tight spaces, or outdoors on my small patio. Run time seems decent, probably not longer than 20 minutes on a full charge. But, may not be a great choice if you need to remove hair from a couch. I found it rather terrible for picking up my short hair cat furs from my velvet couch. But handles a lot of small jobs and generally makes cleaning a lot more streamline.

Worked well for just over a year but for the last year has sounded like it’s on its last leg. We regularly empty the bin and check the filter, too. It’s about to die, which is a bummer since most review sites say well maintained vacs should last 5 years. I was hoping for at least 3 or 4.

I LOVE this little powerhouse vacuum. I have used the same one for years and it has great suction. I have never had an issue with battery life like some other reviews stated. As long as it’s always plugged in or on the power base it’s always fully charged. I have one in my RV, laundry room and kitchen - my fav fast cleaning tool. And it gets into crevices, like the runners of my sliding glass door, to suck out the hard yo get to dirt. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Very strong vacuum for the size. Very easy to keep clean and handles a lot of jobs. Saves me time by not needing my larger vacuum as often. My only quibble is that I wish the battery lasted a bit longer. That said, the charge is pretty fast and so long as one keeps storing the unit on the charger, that's just fine.

The charging "dock" is horrible. Not easy to store as a handheld should be. I bought it because I own older previous model and had it for yrs and they have been great, just now not lasting as long. They have a plug in adapter and hook to store vacuum. B&D needs to go back to that form of charging I will be returning this one, to inconvenient.
