Q: Why does the warm setting continue at full boil forever, either causing the food to turn to mush or burning it? I purchased 2 of these crock pots recently and both continue to boil forever? Thanks!!!

submitted by Chris from Moreno Valley - 6 years ago
  • A: We had the same problem, wrote the company they didn't help, returned it for the last time and purchased another brand. It's a terrible crockpot.

Q: Can I put the ceramic pot in over

submitted by Maureen - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes, the removable Crock-Pot® stoneware (not lid) is oven safe up to 400° F. When using the stoneware in your oven, do not preheat the oven. Place the stoneware in a cold oven and then turn the oven on. The stoneware cannot be used in the broiler. Thanks and have a great day.

submitted byCrockPot Brand Team - 5 years ago

  • A: Yes, I have used mine in the oven to reheat, but like the the post above says, I place it in oven cold and let it warm up as the oven warms up. I usually only reheat at 350* to avoid drying out the ingredients. This is a great basic slow cooker !

submitted bykatdan - 5 years ago

Q: How is this programmable? A recipe is supposed to be cooked on low for 4 hours, and there's no way to set this, unless I missed it in the manual? Thanks.

submitted by AshleyMP - 5 years ago
  • A: The programmable function, refers to the 4 digital preset cooking modes and the automatic switch to warm function. For short cooking time recipes that call for 4 hours on low, you would have to stop the cooking process yourself after the 4 hours. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for providing your feedback.

Q: can you do a pot roast

submitted by evelyn - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes, you can make delicious pot roast with this Crock-Pot® Programmable 6 Qt. Slow Cooker. Thank you for your question. Below is a recipe from our website. Melt In Your Mouth Roast & Gravy Ingredients 3 to 5 pound Chuck Roast 1 (10 Ounce) can of Cream of Mushroom 1 Packet of Onion Soup Mix 1 Medium onion -chopped 2 medium carrots-chopped (optional) 2 Tablespoons All-Purpose Flour Drizzle of Olive Oil Print Shopping List Instructions Lightly coat roast with flour and drizzle oil in a large skillet or non-stick pan over med-high heat. Place flour-coated roast in pan and sear meat on all sides, ( approximately 2 to 3 minutes on each side) then remove from heat. This step is optional but color on the meat equals flavor. In a medium bowl, mix the can of cream of mushroom and the packet of onion soup till well blended. Toss in the chopped onion and carrots into your Crock-Pot®, then place the roast on top of the vegetables. Finally, with a rubber spatula, spread the soup mix evenly over the roast. Cook on Low for 8 hours. The juice of the roast will blend with the soup mix to make its own gravy. Serve over mashed potatoes or cooked rice & Enjoy!

Q: why does the outside of the crockpot get HOT? I went to move it and burned my hand!

submitted by clowe - 5 months ago
  • A: Hi Clowe. Thank you for reaching out to us and we are very sorry for the inconvenience. The heat is from the bottom of the unit. Due to the proximity between the heating element and the exterior of our slow cookers, it is normal for them to get quite hot on the outside. The heating element wraps around the sides of the unit. Therefore, on both the outside of the unit and in the product's instruction manual we recommend using a hot pad if you need to touch the unit during cooking. For further assistance, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9 am -5 pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Q: I have no instructions, do you cook with the lid locked down

submitted by bgentry - 7 months ago
  • A: Hello. The lid should not be locked while you are cooking. Locking the lid while cooking will maintain the steam pressure which can affect the slow cooker’s performance. The locking lid is only for traveling with the slow cooker. To receive a instruction booklet for your CrockPot Slow Cooker model SCCPVLF605-B, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. Q: Can you set this slow cooker to cut on at a later time in the day if you are not home? I am gone over 10 hours a day and want it to start 3 hours after I leave home.

submitted by VickiL29 - 2 years ago
  • A: No, you must start it before you leave. It will switch to hold warm after the scheduled cook time finishes to keep your meal warm until you get back without overcooking. If you want to start a crockpot 3 hours after you leave, I recommend a combination of an electrical outlet timer (like you'd use for lamps) and a manual crockpot that you can set to your preferred temperature even when off. Old school, but that's how my mom did it on her long work days and it still works.

Honestly, the best adult purchase (I’m 29), I ever bought myself. I don’t know how I’ve missed out using one of these bad boys. The only con with this crockpot is the lid doesn’t sit nicely on top. It kinda moves around. It’s not a deal breaker tho. It does its job and does it well!

the crockpot itself feels cheap and poor quality, and the entire thing got extremely hot. Not like the old heavy duty crockpots. This thing was HOT to the touch i had to use pot holders to pick it up and move it. It’s a big hazard.

Low cooking temp

1 out of 5 stars
dl - 5 months ago
The low and high heat temperature are exactly the same on both crockpots, the same model. Otherwards, there are not two settings in reality. Also one crockpot could only reach 180 degress F, while the other one could only reach 170 degrees F using a Fluke Multimeter. It gives a Slow Cooker a whole new meaning. Low setting is suppose to be 200, high should be 300 degrees F.
1 reply from CrockPot Brand Team team - 5 months ago
Hello. Thank you for your feedback. On your slow cooker, both high and low stabilize at the same temperature (209°F); it is just a matter of how long it takes to reach the simmer point. On high, it takes approximately 3-4 hours, whereas on low, it takes approximately 7-8 hours to reach the simmer point. Once food reaches the simmer point, total cook time is dependent on cut and weight of meat to reach the point of maximum flavor and texture potential. Most dishes can be prepared on either high or low. This is uniform across all of our current models. On the warm setting, your slow cooker will be between 165-175°F. Please remember that these are all approximate temperatures and they can vary depending on what you are cooking. The unit can also boil on high and low. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9 am -5 pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Does The Job

4 Stars Because It Does The Job. The Silicone Seal Meant To Help The Lid Lock To The Base Makes It A Weird Fit When Most Crock Pots Simply Sit Just Inside The Base Making You Have To Balance The Lod Just So To Make Sure You Don't Have Gaps Letting Out Heat. I Also Wish This Unit Had A Notification Beep When The Preset Timer Stopped Moving It To Keep Warm. Overall, For The Price It Was A Good Purchase. I'm Not Very Sold On The Carry Handles (They Don't Seem To Be The Sturdiest) But I Don't Plan On Using Those As Intended.
