Q: Why does the warm setting continue at full boil forever, either causing the food to turn to mush or burning it? I purchased 2 of these crock pots recently and both continue to boil forever? Thanks!!!

submitted by Chris from Moreno Valley - 7 years ago

Q: Can I put the ceramic pot in over

submitted by Maureen - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes, the removable Crock-Pot® stoneware (not lid) is oven safe up to 400° F. When using the stoneware in your oven, do not preheat the oven. Place the stoneware in a cold oven and then turn the oven on. The stoneware cannot be used in the broiler. Thanks and have a great day.

submitted byCrockPot Brand Team - 6 years ago

  • A: Yes, I have used mine in the oven to reheat, but like the the post above says, I place it in oven cold and let it warm up as the oven warms up. I usually only reheat at 350* to avoid drying out the ingredients. This is a great basic slow cooker !

Q: How is this programmable? A recipe is supposed to be cooked on low for 4 hours, and there's no way to set this, unless I missed it in the manual? Thanks.

submitted by AshleyMP - 6 years ago
  • A: The programmable function, refers to the 4 digital preset cooking modes and the automatic switch to warm function. For short cooking time recipes that call for 4 hours on low, you would have to stop the cooking process yourself after the 4 hours. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for providing your feedback.

Q: can you do a pot roast

submitted by evelyn - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes, I have done a pot roast in this crock pot.

submitted byBri - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes, you can make delicious pot roast with this Crock-Pot® Programmable 6 Qt. Slow Cooker. Thank you for your question. Below is a recipe from our website. Melt In Your Mouth Roast & Gravy Ingredients 3 to 5 pound Chuck Roast 1 (10 Ounce) can of Cream of Mushroom 1 Packet of Onion Soup Mix 1 Medium onion -chopped 2 medium carrots-chopped (optional) 2 Tablespoons All-Purpose Flour Drizzle of Olive Oil Print Shopping List Instructions Lightly coat roast with flour and drizzle oil in a large skillet or non-stick pan over med-high heat. Place flour-coated roast in pan and sear meat on all sides, ( approximately 2 to 3 minutes on each side) then remove from heat. This step is optional but color on the meat equals flavor. In a medium bowl, mix the can of cream of mushroom and the packet of onion soup till well blended. Toss in the chopped onion and carrots into your Crock-Pot®, then place the roast on top of the vegetables. Finally, with a rubber spatula, spread the soup mix evenly over the roast. Cook on Low for 8 hours. The juice of the roast will blend with the soup mix to make its own gravy. Serve over mashed potatoes or cooked rice & Enjoy!

Q: why does the outside of the crockpot get HOT? I went to move it and burned my hand!

submitted by clowe - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Clowe. Thank you for reaching out to us and we are very sorry for the inconvenience. The heat is from the bottom of the unit. Due to the proximity between the heating element and the exterior of our slow cookers, it is normal for them to get quite hot on the outside. The heating element wraps around the sides of the unit. Therefore, on both the outside of the unit and in the product's instruction manual we recommend using a hot pad if you need to touch the unit during cooking. For further assistance, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9 am -5 pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Q: I have no instructions, do you cook with the lid locked down

submitted by bgentry - 2 years ago
  • A: Hello. The lid should not be locked while you are cooking. Locking the lid while cooking will maintain the steam pressure which can affect the slow cooker’s performance. The locking lid is only for traveling with the slow cooker. To receive a instruction booklet for your CrockPot Slow Cooker model SCCPVLF605-B, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. submitted by Karen - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi there, Karen! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question. No, you cannot set your own time on this CrockPot model SCCPVLF605-B. This model has 4 preprogrammed settings; you can choose the cooking time on High for 4 or 6 hours or on Low for 8 or 10 hours. Got this as a gift from asking for a slow cooker. I don't really cook hardly at all, mainly wanted something portable to make dips in. It CAN do that, but it's extremely annoying. The inner bowl is extremely loose and must ALWAYS be held in place when stirring or serving. And since that's the hot part.... Much more importantly, the temperature control is either broken or pure placebo. There is no difference in cook time, boil water time, or temperature no matter what setting is used. "Warm" is therefore useless and will continue cooking/burn whatever is in there. My dip boiled. I confirmed with a watt meter that it draws ~250 watts continuously no matter what setting is selected.

Lid shattered everywhere

Jen - 2 months ago
I’ve had this crockpot for less than a year. It worked fine until this morning when I heard a loud noise from the kitchen. The lid which was sitting next to the crockpot in the shelf just randomly exploded in my cabinet. I have no idea what happened. I’ve always hand washed the crockpot and have never dropped or damaged it in any way so I can’t understand what would cause the glass to just shatter randomly. I’ve owned crockpots for YEARS and have never had anything like this happen before. I’ll be buying another brand to replace this one with.

If you do anything, please read (and believe) the other one star reviews. This crock style is defective - it doesn’t get hot, as others have stated. After four hours on high, it is barely warm to the touch, the chicken is still raw, and the shredded cheese isn’t even melted. Target wants me to bring back the used Crockpot for a refund, but I’m not willing to give myself (or anyone else) Salmonella poisoning from transporting a contaminated unit. So, now I’m out the money. I adore Target, but I trust them to carry quality products. This Crockpot is a miss. Wish I had read the reviews first.

I just bought this unit 3 days ago and have used it twice. Even on the Low setting it comes to a boil extremely fast. I am not used to a Crock-Pot boiling on low. I turned it to Warm and it was still boiling an hour later. What would the High setting do!!! I have had 2 crock pots(a smaller one and a larger on)for 25 years and have never had this issue

This crock pot runs very, very hot. It will burn food even on the lowest setting if you aren’t watching. It’s definitely not a “set it and forget it crockpot”. It needs supervision.

We used it a grand total of two times before the heating element failed. After that, the controls were still light up, but the unit would never, ever heat up again. We threw it 20 floors down our garbage chute, and after decades of using them, we will never buy a Crock Pot branded slow cooker again.

The outer material of this Crock-Pot (and apparently all that are sold at Target now), got extremely hot- enough to burn your finger!! This is certainly a fire hazard. I returned it after one use and will unfortunately not be buying Crock-Pot brand anymore until they change their materials back to the original.
