Q: What is the power usage spec on this? Also, is each side heated up separately? In other words, if I'm toasting 2 slices of bread, the device is only heating up that side, is this correct?

A: Anjay, if you are referring to the text on the buttons, this is not etched in. However, I have had mine for several years, have 4 children so we use it daily, and I just checked and do not see the faintest sign of wearing. I also wipe this down daily. so am confident saying this is built to last. I hope this helps!

Best toaster
We have the four slice Cuisinart toaster, what a wonderful appliance. Looks great on the counter, but works so well, able to satisfy all tastes, from light to dark toast, bagels, waffles, etc! Great choice for a family , and it is a great quality product.

The toaster does it's job - However, longevity will be the key. It is very light and seems somewhat fragile. It will be fine for us (in our 70's with no young folks) but in the hands of children it might not last very long.

Doesnt work
I needed to replace my toaster but this model is awful. I noticed that only half of the slice toasters work and now when I press the toasting levers down they don’t stay down and the heating element’s don’t activate. I’ve only owned it for 1 month and I’m so disappointed.

Nice looking but...
It's a very nice looking toaster. It feels better than some toasters in its price range. My issues with it are the following: - The dial goes from 1 to 6, so 3 1/2 is half way. I'd expect a nice golden brown toast. Instead the toast is quite dark and crispy. Yes, I can make an adjustment but there seems to be inconsistency - sometimes a lower number yields toast more browned than expected. - The slots ARE wide, as advertised. However, the carriages are only 3/4 inch wide meaning it will take a slice of bread or waffle but will not accomodate a roll - such as a commercial hamburger bun cut in half with each half in its own slot. My old toaster carriages were 1 inch wide, which makes a big difference. It's a bit disingenuous to call it a wide slot toaster when the only part that's wide is the slot into which the narrow carriage fits. This is very disappointing.

Combustion Bad ... Toast Good
I bought this toaster a few months back. Without warning, the right side (the two rightmost slots) ceased working. At the same time, the left side slots have begun burning toast regardless of darkness setting. I don't like being on fire.

Not thrilled with this toaster.
I am disappointed with this toaster. I like the way it looks, but its functionality is not great. It is taking some time to learn how not to burn the toast. On the lowest setting ~ once is not enough; but a second try on the same setting burns it. That's my main complaint. My other complaint is that it has taken two weeks for this weird new smell to stop. It seems to be all done with that now. So it's broken in I guess. I do like the "reheat" feature and the defrost feature.

Toast comes out ok...a little uneven but I can live with that. The bagel button, which is supposed to turn off the outside coils, doesn't work. All coils are on and cooking both sides of the bagel.

Not the quality we expected from Cuisinart.
We replaced our Cuisinart 4 slice toaster with a new Cuisinart 4 slice toaster and their quality has gone downhill. The handle needs to be pushed down numerous times to stick on both sides and it is not toasting evenly. The new version is smaller and more lightweight and does not hold the wide loaf bread pieces that the old one did. We are considering returning it.
