The bottle says Original Dawn but it isn't. It has a horrible scent that won't go away. Just pass on this buy. I wish I could give it negative stars.

I'm apparently late to the game but Dawn changed their scent last summer and I find it horrendous. I unknowingly used it for the first time last night and nearly gagged. From what I can tell it still cleans OK but the scent is so obnoxious I'm not even going to finish the pan in the sink until I go out and buy some alternative.

Dawn is the only dish soap that I ever used because it was the best and it worked well for everything, dishes my counters, stains on clothes. But unfortunately I will need to find a new soap since the scent changed. Its terribly highly fake chemical scent is overpowering and we can not stand it! We keep it natural in the house and that scent is horrific! Please bring a scent less option or the old mild scent back. Can no longer use Dawn until there is another option and its sad.

Hate the new scent! I can’t stand fragrances in my products. I loved the original Dawn scent because it didn’t have a strong odor. I don’t use Dawn Platinum due to it being overly scented and now I’ll have to find a new brand of soap entirely because Dawn has ruined the Original by adding fragrance.

It does a great job cutting through tough grease and stuck-on food without needing a ton of product. One small squeeze goes a long way, which makes the bottle last longer than many other brands I’ve tried. One of the things I really appreciate is that it's gentle on my hands. I don’t always use gloves when doing dishes, and with some soaps my hands feel dry or irritated afterward. With Dawn, that hasn’t been an issue. It’s mild enough that I can use it frequently without any discomfort. I also like that it feels safe to use, especially around kids or when I’m washing items for food prep. It rinses clean and doesn’t leave any weird film or residue on dishes. The new scent and formula are terrible. I've used Dawn for years and have loved it. The new scent is fine but it stays on dishes long after washing. Brand new plastic, glass, ceramic storage containers and dishes - all of them were washed with the new Dawn and still smell like the scent; you can taste it in the food after being stored in the dishes and it's disgusting. I will be throwing all of this away and switching to a different brand. When you tested this with your focus groups you should've had them eat out of the containers that were washed with the new scent. It's terrible.

Boycotting all products until the return of the original scent. It is so unnecessary to have this “new scent” when you have so many scented products. The unscented version is not the same. I didn’t realize how many P&G products I used but I will find alternatives. Taking a stand on this one and it seems I am not alone in the feeling!

My completely unobservant kid came home from college and was washing the dinner dishes and instantly asked if Dawn had changed. The scent lingers for days on dishes & utensils. I have a rubber spatula I can not get the scent out of now. I have used Dawn for decades. I'm going to have to find something less perfumed.

I hope the manufacturer brings back the original Dawn fragrance. This new version is awful!!!! I feel bad for the poor oil slick birds who have to endure being bathed in this fragrance.

The new scent is nauseating. I have sensory issues, but I'm not usually overly bothered by scents. This is an exception. Why change the original when this could have been a separate scent? I will be switching brands.

I can always rely for this dishwashing soap to easily clean up dirty dishes, grease, and tough stains! I especially love how you can use it for multiple purposes like taking off makeup from shirts and even for the bathroom! Also has a clean scent to it which I like!

Absolutely awful new scent!!! I thought I bought the wrong scent or something was wrong with the one I got. Then I realized "original" is not really original anymore. Now I have a giant bottle or stinky soap!!! You really could have just created a new scent and left the original alone. I'm not sure who this was tested on but their sense of smell must have been messed up. New scent is sickeningly, perfumy and has a bad sweet smell. What makes it even worse is your hands and dishes smell like the new scent after washing anything with it. PLEASE bring back the true original scent!!!! None of the other scents of dawn are any good either. I am switching over to Palmolive.

We are religious users of Dawn, but the new scent is horrendous. I am absolutely repulsed. Hopefully the scent change is temporary, but I will be switching brands in the meantime. My stores don't carry the free and clear version.

We have used Dawn liquid dish detergent for as long as I can remember but we just opened a new scented bottle and we will regretfully have to change brands unless we can find some of the original scent. It is overpowering and actually gags me. After washing and rinsing pots and pans they still smell like soap. I don't want my food tasking like that awful soap. Please bring back the old scent!

However, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. Based on your experience, we recommend you discontinue using this bottle of Dawn. The “new” scent is terribly strong, too perfumy, & offensive. It lingers on the dishes even with extra rinsing & on my hands. I’ve been using the new bottle for a few days and my hands are dry, cracked, red, & itchy for hours after washing dishes, likely allergic to the new fragrance. With the original formula my hand felt soft and fine afterwards. I would vote 0 stars if that were an option.
