As someone who drinks a pot of coffee every morning and enjoys the occasional latte or cappuccino I really had high hopes for this machine, unfortunately the espresso side broke after three uses. I read reviews of this happening but went against my better judgment and purchased this machine thinking that wouldn’t happen to me- I was wrong. Fortunately, I was still within my return window and was able to get a full refund- I kept the receipt, and the box just in case anything did happen to my machine, and I’m glad I did!

Makes delicious espresso! Be aware it is not fully automatic so it does not shut off after you pull a shot. Also, the machine does not shut off automatically if you forget to turn off power. My machine was on for over 12 hours today because I forgot to turn it off!

Do not buy! After only two years, a gross rusty sludge developed inside the water tank. I descaled it every 2-3 months but that didn’t keep it clean.

Item heating element failed, just a month past warranty..... had to jump through hoops to show when bought - despite registering for warranty with them origianally. Customer service not willing to help customer with real solutions despite the $300 price tag. Also, frothing element never truly worked well. Never buy this brand for this amount of money again.

I got this 11 months ago for a gift. The drip coffee portion has never made a good cup of coffee. The espresso side was fun but temperamental. After 9 months it started making weird noises and pouring out steam. I descaled it which helped for about a month. Now it’s even worse. It will make the espresso but the frother pours out steam in areas it shouldn’t and squawks do loud I have to turn it off. I contacted DeLonghi. They wrote back for additional information which I provided. No resolution yet. They were contacted on the 12-24-24 and I received an answer asking for more detail on the 27. Immediately responded. I know it’s the holidays but still no resolution a week later. I wouldn’t but another. You can spend the same money and get a Breville Bambino and get a much better machine. As my sister has pointed out, don’t buy combos because one part stops working and you have to buy 2 new things to replace.

Makes great coffee and espressos but the biggest problem with this machine is the espresso maker doesn’t have an automatic shut off. The coffee maker heater does after 2 hours but the espresso side doesn’t? Seems like a fire hazard or a way to burn out the machine pretty quickly. My son made an espresso yesterday morning after I left and the machine was COOKING HOT and smelled like it was burning when I got home a few hours later because he didn’t turn it off. I can see how that can happen as it can happen to anyone. Total fail on Delonghi’s part for not having an automatic off after an hour or so on the espresso side.

Defective after a week

Just had to return as defective after only 7 days of use, which was really disappointing. The drip coffee side just stopped working entirely, and after troubleshooting with DeLonghi’s support department it sounded it was due to a pump failure. Wild that something so fundamental could fail after one week. Aside from that, the glass carafe our unit shipped with leaked so as you’d pour water into the machine, it’d drip between the plastic rim and glass body, leaving water all over the countertop. The espresso side seemed ok, not the best espresso I’ve ever pulled but suitable for a reasonably priced home unit. Steam wand was awkward to use but got the job done. That said, I wish I had read other recent reviews before buying this as these seem to be common issues, and not unique to the unit I bought.

We received this machine as a wedding gift, and have used it for two months. Sharing our experience with it to help other buyers. The drip coffee side of this machine is decent and includes a reusable coffee filter, which is a nice touch. However, there are no markings on the water reservoir to indicate how many cups you're adding—something even the cheapest drip machines offer. It's a strange and inconvenient omission. The espresso side is where this machine falls apart. The espresso doesn't shut off automatically, unlike most machines, which is a basic feature you'd expect - even at this price point. The portafilter is very difficult to secure and requires more force than you'd think - if not properly tightened, it can come loose mid-brew. When it comes to pulling a shot, the experience is equally disappointing. If you pack the grounds with the amount typical for other (better) machines, the shot either won't pull at all or takes over 5 minutes. This machine seems highly intolerant to standard espresso practices. To make matters worse, the included tamper is a flimsy plastic piece that feels like a cost-cutting afterthought, discouraging proper tamping pressure. Overall, I’d rate this machine 2 stars. While it gets points for the drip side and affordability, it’s clear that significant corners were cut in design and quality. Save your money for a better espresso machine that’s worth the investment—this one shouldn't have made it to market.

At the beginning, it was great. The only thing I didn’t love was the steamer & the fact you had to manually stop the shot of espresso from brewing. But the big issue I’ve now experienced is that the drip coffee side stopped working. We have only had it for about a year and a half. We don’t use the coffee machine everyday. So the fact it’s already not working is frustrating especially for the price.
