Pressing the Alarm buttons will toggle the alarm from being enabled and disabled. A: The clock needs to be plugged into the wall power to run. Since the digits light up, the batteries would drain quickly if the clock was running on battery power alone. The backup batteries are used to save the time and alarm settings either when there is a power failure or the clock is unplugged. When power is restored, the time and alarm settings will be restored so that you don’t have to reset them again. This can be helpful for example if you need to unplug the clock to move it or if the power is briefly interrupted during the night, the backup feature will ensure that the time and alarm are correct so that you’re still woken up in the morning.
A: Ooops, that's not correct in the details! The clock is 5.9" wide at the base, 4.5" tall and 1.8" from front to back.
