Q: Does the V8 come with fluffy head roller safe for hardwood? I have the v7 advanced and I cannot use on hardwood as wheels scratch the hardwood.

I rarely take the time to leave reviews but I was so disappointed by this purchase. The vacuum leaves scuff marks all over my wood floors. The marks aren’t permanent but I hate to mop every time I vacuum. Seriously ridiculous for such an expensive product.

Best vacuum on the market but...

No doubt Dyson makes the best vacuums. But the battery on my Dyson V8 died after only 4 months of light use. Very disappointed and my options are either to buy a new battery myself or take it to a Dyson Service Center that has very very mixed reviews.

Expensive vacuum and I only have enough battery time to vacuum my living room. I can purchase another battery for an additional $100 but I shouldn't have to pay more to vacuum my entire house or at least more than one room. The suction power does not live up to the Dyson name. I vacuum over the same area several times in order to get a complete clean, even with the boost power strength. If you have a 500 sq ft apartment with hardwood floors maybe this vacuum will work for you, but it's not designed for anything larger or carpet.

Extended run high suction mode is designed to handle the majority of cleaning tasks and provides up to 40 minutes of run time. Not a fan. Would Not recommend. I really don’t understand why people love it so much. I guess if you don’t care that you have to hold the on button the whole time which makes your hand cramp after awhile and you don’t care that the battery life is terrible. Also the suction without the hose and floor attachment is pointless, it barely picks up anything. I really wish I hadn’t wasted the money or at least read some reviews first.

I really wanted to love this vacuum. Maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but our old vacuum that was all of $100 didn’t give me this many issues. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats and a baby. Our place is under 1,000 sqft, mostly hardwood but we have rugs around. Because of the lack of power this vacuum has, I have to vacuum several times PER DAY to keep pet hair at bay. That’s so unrealistic! With a baby that is crawling around, I want to vacuum once every morning and be done with it. I think this vacuum would work better for a family who doesn’t have animals and doesn’t have rugs or carpets. Seems like it does a decent job on our hardwood, but even then I notice I have to run over areas of debris several times for it to pick them up. Yes, I’ve cleaned the filter several times - we even bought brand new ones and still not working. Pros: Has different heads for many purposes, easy to carry a baby in one hand and vacuum with the other, my cat loves to chew this particular charging cable and we’ve had to replace it 2 times and it’s not cheap. Cons: Does not do a good job sucking up dog or cat hair (long or short) like other vacuums do, does not have a strong suction, does not pick up kitty litter like it should, leaves rugs dirty with debris, no on/off button so you have to be pulling a trigger button the entire time you vacuum, extremely expensive

Does not work on thicker rugs/carpet. Was missing one of the attachments so I ordered a second one thinking it was a glitch, however it was also missing. I believe you can reach out to Dyson for the missing piece, however you shouldn’t have to. Since it doesn’t work on half the floors I need it to, the price even on sale is not worth it so I’m returning the second one.

What in the world is all they hype over this vacuum?!!!! It’s the worst. First off, you have to hold a trigger button to vacuum… why doesn’t it just have an on and off button? Second I’m not a fan of having to wall mount the charger I just want to plug it in any ole outlet with a simple small plug. Third and this may be the most important, it has no power… it sucks up some cat hair and that’s about it. How on earth the price tag is over $50 on this is beyond me, the swifter sweep and vac works better for $30.

We can confirm that the trigger does need to be held down in order to power this model. Currently, only our Omni-glide and V12 models have an on-off button. You do not need to use the included dock to store or charge your machine. The charger and dock are separate and the dock itself doesn't charge your machine. I don't like that you have to hold down a button to make it vacuum. There should be an "on and off" button. Also, the latch on the container that holds all the stuff you vacuumed up, already quit working and will flap open mid vacuum. It's a disaster, especially because my daughter and I are both seriously allergic to dust. It may sound crazy, but a little mishap like that can ruin our entire day or days.

Dyson cordless vacuums will feature a runtime enhancing light touch trigger, which requires little pressure to run the unit as well. It may also prove helpful to ensure the unit is held with a firm, but not a very tight grasp, given that the light touch trigger does not require a very hard press or grasp to operate.
