A: It is a good thickness, so I would say closer to 3/8". Best rug pad that I have ever had and really makes the rug feel even higher quality because of the extra comfort the pad provides.

Good pad, but be prepared to trim it
I did read the other reviews about having to trim this down and I didn't understand why people were having a hard time with it, but now I do. The padding is so thick plus the rubber that regular scissors can't really cut it well. I have a roller cutter meant for cutting many layers of fabric at once and used that, which worked great, I think a sharp box cutter/exacto knife would work well too, but regular house scissors won't do it. I bought the 4x6 pad and it was like 8 inches too big on one side and 2 on the other, I'm glad it's definitely big enough but that sure is a challenge to cut, so be prepared. All that being said, it is a good rug pad for the money if you need some extra padding under a rug. I used it under a thin kid's room rug and it's made it much nicer to sit on the floor to play.

width questions?
the use if the rug is great. however, the measurements are confusing. it's smaller lengthwise, but LARGER width wise. not sure about why that would be. while this is not hard to fix, it is another step is an otherwise easy process.

Rug pad is way too thick and you can see it, from the side, under the rug. Also the rug slips off of the pad and I constantly have to readjust it (the top of the pad is smooth that holds onto the rug). This pad is over rated. I am returning.

I have a 120 year old persian rug that needed a new pad. Love this one! Do keep in mind you get what you pay for when it comes to rug pads...if you go cheap, it’ll feel cheap! This one feels a little bit more like home to walk on with the pad underneath. I live in a 150 year old mill with original flooring and this pad is a great buffer for a bit of comfort + less creaking. Holds in place, rug doesn’t budge.

Pad sizing is not what is listed on website or package
The rug pad was sized off. The actual pad dimensions on the package was 8'8'' x 11'8'' but actually measured out 9'1'' x 11'11''. Its a pain now to either cut it to fit or send back. Horrible QC.

Unlike my last thin rug pad, this one does not move. It is under my small 2 x 3 foyer rug. It did take some getting used to as it does lift the rug off the floor a tiny bit. It's fine now, but it really could be a potential trip hazard.

If you're trying to keep a rug firmly in place, this is a great option
I bought this rug pad to combat my rambunctious pets romping up and down the hallway and messing up my nice runner. They used to send the runner flying into a heap a few times a day (first thing in the morning, after breakfast, coming home from work, and before bed...) and it was slowly making me insane. I tried rug tape, which made it through only one cat play session, and a lesser rug pad, which didn't even make it through playtime. I figured it was time for the big guns (and time to spend more than $10 on supplies) to regain my rug sanity. This rug pad has done the trick. It grips my hardwood floors nicely and has maybe moved a few centimeters over 2 weeks. The runner and rug pad are in a super high-traffic part of the house (from the front door into the main living space). The pets continue to fly across the rug, but it stays firmly in place. One of the cats likes the rug pad so much that he now sleeps there most mornings (on the pad, under the actual rug). I would definitely recommend this rug pad if you're looking to keep a rug in place. I've bought another one for my living room and expect to have the same results. If you're looking for something extra plush and squishy, this pad may fall a little short. It's comfortable and makes my hall runner much nicer, but it doesn't quite reach that high-end luxury plushness.

This xceptional pad really made thin rug perfect!
This pad has real body to it but still was easy to cut to the correct size. The backing keeps it from skidding on the tile floor and the top portion really keeps the rug from moving around. Very pleased also as it added just the right depth to make what turned out to be an extremely thin 8 x 10 rug very soft and cushiony to walk on. Definitely would recommend this rug pad!

Good non-slip padding underneath thinner area rug. Took days to air out, there was a pretty strong rubber/chemical (off-gassing?) odor for a while. But it’s getting better. It does the job it’s made to do. Size-wise, it is only about 2 inches smaller than the same size area rug so it slightly lifts the edge of the rug... making it a little bit of a tripping hazard. (We used this for a child’s room) We may need to trim a little to help the rug lay a bit flatter. Time will tell. Would recommend.
