  • Boils water quickly for tea, coffee or cocoa

Description

Tea? Hot chocolate? Instant soup? If you have a taste for it, the Hamilton Beach 1.7 Liter Glass Cordless Kettle can have it ready in minutes. With 1500 watts, this electric kettle can boil water faster than a microwave, and is safer to use than a stovetop kettle because it automatically turns off when the water reaches a boil. The soft blue illumination along with a brushed, stainless steel base make the kettle compact, space saving and attractive when placed on the kitchen counter. Serving at the table is no problem as the kettle lifts right off the 360-degree rotating base without the cord. The powerful rapid-boil system provides fast heating from any standard outlet and the auto shut-off function helps keep the kettle from boiling dry. The clear glass kettle features a stay-cool handle, push-button lid and easy-pour spout that make filling and serving easy. A cord wrap is under the base for space-saving storage when not in use.

Q: I'm reading complaints about rust spots. Is that because there's steel on the inside of the kettle? If it's cosmetic and on the outside, I don't mind, but I don't want to drink rust water.

submitted by Lauren D - 6 years ago
  • A: those are mineral deposits on the metal, not rust. at night pour 1/2 cup of your cheapest white vinegar into the bottom. rinse in the morning and everything will look brand new, guaranteed.

submitted bySheila - 1 year ago
  • A: When we're done with ours and we're not going to be using it for the rest of the day, we pour out the excess water and take a paper towel and dry the inside and set it back on the base. I've had mine for over a year and have never had a rust spot.

    submitted byDianelaine929 - 6 years ago
  • A: I rinse out my pot after each use and wash it intermittently and I have no residue. I think people get lazy and leave leftover water in the pot promoting interior and exterior spotting.

submitted byKLA - 6 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. The "rust spots" you are seeing are likely mineral deposits leftover from the water. This can be removed by doing a cycle with cream of tartar, as outlined in your use and care guide. Should you have any further questions or be in need of assistance, please email us at customer.service@hamiltonbeach.com, or give us a call at 800.851.8900.

  • A: I've had mine for over a year and have no rust spots. If I will not be using it for the rest of the day I just pour the water out and dry it with a paper towel and set it back on the base. it's the best product for heating your water to a boiling point under 2 minutes that I have ever used... And we absolutely love ours!

    submitted byDianelaine929 - 6 years ago

Q: How long would you say it takes to boil a cup of water? I'm thinking of buying this for my mother and it would b primarily because of the speed in witch it takes to boil water on a traditional kettle.

submitted by Cameron - 6 years ago
  • A: I ended up giving my kettle to a friend. This boils your water under two minutes...and is way,way faster than the kettle! She will love it!

    submitted byDianelaine929 - 6 years ago
  • A: If you fill the water level to the minimum level- it takes 2 minutes to heat to the appropriate temp.

submitted byLauren - 6 years ago
  • A: Two minutes or less? It’s very fast.

submitted byMatanuskaMolisana - 6 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. The boil time will depend on the kettle (size 1L vs. 1.7L and heater rating), starting water temperature, water amount, and altitude.

submitted byHamiltonBeachTeam - 4 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: At the minimal level it's under 2 minutes and at the maximum level it's exactly 2 minutes. I love mine... I put the water in flip the switch... go grab my purse and car keys... By the time I put on my jacket, get back to the kitchen it's already done I pour, add my tea bag or instant coffee, and walk out the door! Best product ever...I love mine!

    submitted byDianelaine929 - 6 years ago

Q: Sorry I am probably missing something obvious: Why is there a cord wrap in the base if this is a cordless unit? Do you mean that the cord is retractable? If truly cordless, is it battery operated?

submitted by Eli - 6 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. This Hamilton Beach Kettle will feature a cord on the power base. The power base will feature a cord wrap storage.

submitted byHamiltonBeachTeam - 4 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: It has a separate round bottom base that the actual glass kettle sits on that you take it off to pour and then set it back on the base it's very easy to lift off and on...sits securly, put on and lifts off with ease and is very attractive sitting on the counter.

    submitted byDianelaine929 - 6 years ago
  • A: The kettle is cordless, the base it sits on when heating up has a cord. The are 2 separate pieces.

submitted byJoey - 6 years ago
  • A: The cord goes to the base, which detaches from the kettle.

    submitted bySvb207 - 6 years ago

Q: After use, I would like to leave the kettle lid open, to help it air dry. Does the lid have a hinge, allowing it to stay open?

submitted by Txshoegirl - 3 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. Yes, this appliance will feature a hinge that allows the lid to remain open.

submitted byHamiltonBeachTeam - 3 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: The "HamiltonBeachTeam" "expert" is incorrect. Yes, there is a hinge to open the lid, however the lid does not remain open, you must hold it open with your other hand or against the faucet to fill the kettle. If you do not click the lid closed, it *will* be open about an inch, however you cannot open it completely because the hinge doesn't allow full opening without breaking the lid hinge. Disappointed in this and am returning my kettle to Target.

submitted byMINIgirl - 3 years ago
  • A: Yes the lid will stay open. After lifting the lid pull it back until the lid clicks into place. It then stays open until closed.

    submitted byBF47 - 3 months ago

Q: How long is the cord on the base?

submitted by mikeyrob - 4 years ago
  • A: When completely unwound, the cord is 25 inches from the base to the plug (not including the plug, just the wire part). The cord stores inside the base so you can make it any length you want from 0 inches to 25.

    submitted byF1Addict - 4 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. The cord should come out and be 2 feet (24 inches) in length.

Q: Why is there white residue at the bottom of my kettle and it has a white film floating on top of the water . Please respond. Thank you A

We would be happy to speak with you and offer any troubleshooting or other assistance you may need. Please email us at customer.service@hamiltonbeach.com, or give us a call at 800-851-8900.

  • A: That is mineral from the water. Use white vinegar or cream of tartar to clean the minerals out.

submitted byCJ - 4 years ago

Q: Just received mine and can tell the box was previously opened. There is no paperwork in the box. Did anyone get directions with theirs?

Q: Do you know the temperature that the water reaches when it is ready? I've been using it to brew coffee but don't think it gets hot enough.

submitted by grandall - 6 years ago
  • A: It is boiling hot... To the point when I put it in my 'To Go"coffee MuG... I add my instant coffee powdered creamer and sugar ((just an FYI, after you stir it do not put the spoon into your mouth it will scald your tongue)) I Stir It,twist lid on to my cup,and by the time I get to our church ((15 minutes away)) I still can't drink it because it's too hot! It is the Best! Within 2 minutes, you have boiling hot water! I love mine, we use it everyday!

    submitted byDianelaine929 - 6 years ago
  • A: Grandall... Within two minutes the water is,''BOILING SCALDING HOT" you should call customer service, it sounds like yours isn't working.

    submitted byDianelaine929 - 6 years ago

Q: Does it get very hot to touch?

submitted by Sader - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes...some areas are hot to the touch...but the handle where you grip to pour has a sturdy nice formed base and does not get hot at all, also the bottom fitting ou the pot is also 'not" hot to the touch... Obviously, the glass portion that contains boiling water is.

    submitted byDianelaine929 - 6 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. Yes, the exterior or the kettle is hot to the touch. There are "HOT SURFACE" signs in the use and care guide and on the kettle itself for this reason.

Q: Can the light be disabled to avoid annoying roommate?

submitted by Revary - 7 years ago
  • A: The light is only on while it is heating, less than 2 min for a large mug of water. And it is a serene blue, so less likely to wake your roommate than a white light.

submitted byDebi - 6 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the light cannot be adjusted or turned off.

For the last five years I had the champagne colored glass one—Loved this kettle. Nice size. Liked seeing the water boil. It got to the boiling point fast. A few months ago it started leaking. Wasn’t sure why. It kept getting worse. Stopped using it due to possible electrocution. I miss it. BUT, I realized it may have happened BECAUSE the DIRECTIONS read something like this: “do not leave water in kettle in between uses”. I always left water in it. The water may have eroded the seal between the glass and the base. Now I’m using a stainless steel one—it works but I’m considering buying another one of these because it just made boiling water a little friendlier somehow! ☺️

It heats up super fast and seems to work really well so far. I use it all the time when I need to boil a bit of water for any recipe, as well as for tea. The only downside is the hard water that builds up inside

This kettle is so user friendly and has simplified making a hot cup of tea at the end of my day. No more using a pot to heat my water. I can simply put water in this kettle, turn it on, get ready for bed and when I come back to it, the kettle has turned itself off and my water is hot and ready to pour. In addition, it has a nice blue light while it is heating up. Do yourself a favor and purchase this kettle.

This item is great at heating water. However, it leaks all over the place when you attempt to pour. I have had multiple people try to make sure it wasn't just me. It's a definite defect in the product.

This doesn’t seem as solid as others I have gotten in the past. Everything just seems loose. When I put it on the heating unit, there’s a lot of movement like it doesn’t fit well. I didn’t notice that to open the lid you have to press two buttons in at the top of the lid until I went to use it. I’m used to there being a way to open the lid by pushing down on a flip near the handle, making filling it up one-handed easier (so important when carrying around a kiddo or multitasking in the kitchen). Again the lid also just seems loose and wobbly.

I bought this kettle to replace an all stainless steel kettle by Hamilton Beach that I bought 10+ years ago that was starting to show its age. I overall like this kettle; the blue light will shut off once the water is done boiling (just make sure the water is to the minimum line and the kettle is seated on the base completely). I haven't had any issues with the lid like others, but you do have to open it to a 90 degree angle and it will snap to stay open. The only real gripe I have is it is loud when boiling water if you're nearby

Glass kettle - 4 months ago, Verified purchaser
I received this as a gift and I Love everything about this product. I loved it so much I gave it as a gift to my daughter in law and she loves how you can see thru the glass container. I love how it heats up so fast and it's convenient. It was sold out in most stores and finally found one and ordered online. That was convenient also walking in Target and letting them know my order number and then walking out.

DONT BUY THIS KETTLE Purchased dec2022, just a year past and the glass broken. Customer service said it just passed one year, there is no option for this issue. Also one year ago I got it as 39.99, now it's 29.99. Poor quality product. So 40 dollars a kettle, only for one year. Very disappointed.
