A: Hi Carol, Proposition 65 was enacted in 1986 in the State of California. It requires an updated list once a year of potentially harmful materials. Whirlpool/KitchenAid meets or exceeds all standards for safe materials, but our products do have cords, which causes them to make the list. I have bought inferior qualities over the years. Best choice I made was getting this one. So very quick and no struggle from the machine. Don’t put off getting. I really am enjoying. PS.
