This set offers an impressive building experience with intricate mechanics and a stunning final design that captures the essence of the Dune universe. Guests appreciate the unique wing movement and the satisfying assembly process, making it a rewarding challenge for experienced builders. While some have noted issues with wing sagging and visible colorful technic parts, the overall aesthetic and functionality make it a standout addition to any collection. The generous minifigure selection adds to its appeal.

Solid set based on one of the best franchises
The highlight is the build process, with so many great intricate combinations of pieces to form the nice flapping mechanism we see later on the demos. I love this series and started to research more about the books after building this set. Thank you LEGO!

Great for Play or Display
This was easily the most challenging sets I've built. I like that and the Technic aspects were nice. Love the flappable wings. Great collection of minifigs and it looks great on a shelf.

most fun build to date
I have built MANY lego sets and this was by far the most fun build i’ve done. it is intricate and complex but not frustrating to put together. it all goes together in a satisfying way and it’s solid. 10/10

Literally making noises ... at my age!
So I've grown up with Lego since I was a boy, around 1900BC i think and to date this is by far the most enjoyable build I have ever done. To sum up the build and to reflect the Title, I found my self almost involuntarily making the noises as I was building and testing mechanisms, right up to the conclusion of the build a little under 4 hours later, much to the dismay of my 10 year old daughter and confused looks of bewilderment from the rest of my family as this 6ft lump wades around the house playing with a mechanised dragonfly making random Sci-fi inspired noises, my wife and daughter in unison calling me an idiot. Why? Well what does it for me is seeing the evolution of how the technical parts or moving mechanisms work together. The fact that the instructions tell you what mechanism you're currently working on is the cherry on top for me. How they managed to get so many complicated moving aspects to function so seamlessly into what is essentially a tight and compact build is a phenomenal achievement. In other builds where there is a lot of technical and functional elements (like gearing in the cars), they don't really translate into the playability, but every moving part in this build does and is clear from the outset, that really appeals to me. Admittedly there are "curved" wing issues that can't be avoided but I really didn't notice that until later in the build, also the wing flutter is a little understated but really that is nit picking at all the magnificence surrounding literally everything else. I'm not a big minifigure person, but they too are well thought out taking into the context the source they are inspired from, and sooo many of them too! The strength of the slender build is another endearing quality too, making playability a real and justifiable thing. Even the feet landing gear is a beauty to behold and so stable when fully engaged. Yep, best yet for me.

Amazing set that every hobbyist needs!
The Dune Ornithopter was one of the first large sets I’ve boughten in years and boy I was not disappointed! With a very respectable price tag, a challenging yet satisfying build, and most of all, an absolutely cool looking set with very neat features (especially the wings) I would recommend this set 10 times out of 10.

Great kit
In spite of some of the reviews I’ve read, I found this kit to be an excellent build, no quality issues, no fit issues. I followed the instructions very carefully which resulted in a perfect fully functional model. Landing gear, wing flap and wing retraction all work great. Well worth the time spent. It is lots of little pieces and very technical but a lot of fun if you have the patience for it. I’ve added it to my list of favorite Legos!

Amazing set - More Dune please!
I have nothing but positives to share regarding this one. The build is a fun combination of Technic and traditional features. The resulting build is more technical than traditional sets but did not feel tedious to me at all. The mechanical aspects (wings, landing gear) are so awesome to see and operate. The finished ship is very sturdy and I'm not worried about pieces falling off just because something brushes against it. The inclusion of 8 figures is delicious icing on the cake (Baron Harkonnen is hilarious, Bravo designers!). This is a fantastic value and comes highly recommended. More like this (specifically Dune!) please.

QC had the day off
My daughter and I were really excited for this build…. Then we opened the box. First the QR code to register our set was completely smeared and unable to scan to register it which kinda stunk but not a huge deal. There were multiple missing pieces (thankfully we have a large collection to pull from, minus the set specific pieces), pages missing…. correction, pages printed out of order, and crumpled cape for the Baron (we lightly ironed to get it slightly better). Overall it’s a cool set and was fun once we got past the multiple issues we had with this set. Pretty disappointed in the quality of this set though.

Worth the investment
This was a super enjoyable set to build. You doubt whether it will all work when you are half way in but by the end the technic elements work perfectly. I loved the movie and I loved the build. Well worth the investment!

Masterclass Engineering
Honestly, one of the better and more refined sets from LEGO. Extremely unique and well integrated technic system for operating the wings. Easily one of my favorite sets, but with one major flaw. I prefer to keep the wings extended on display, but over time, I have noticed that the plastic is starting to give and they are beginning to sag. It looses its sharp display look when you’re looking at uneven wings.

Awesome built with a caveat
It's a harder build, lets just get that out of the way. Not for children or those without patience. Building the internal workings sometimes takes a few tries but never to the point I needed to but it down and walk away for a while. I'm always amazed at building these kinds of sets watching in awe saying "how on earth is this going to work out" but it does.;)

Gimbals and Gears
A very satisfying build with amazing mechanics inside. A brick is pretty much a rectangle and yet they manage to get 8 wings, acting in unison, all at different angles, none of them 90 degrees. Must have been a tremendous challenge to create. But they did it. One of the better builds

The set looks amazing when finished. Minifigures are great too. Some bits of repetition on the wings but its expected.

Absolutely amazing
I don't usually write reviews, but I have to for the Dune Ornithopter as it is absolutely incredible. The designer of this set is an absolute genius. There is far more Technic than I thought, but the way it is applied here is phenomenal. The build was extremely fun but concentration is definitely required. I said "wow" a lot when building this set. Overall this is great value with superb minifigs and the finished vehicle is extraordinary.

Mike Psiaki has outdone himself with this model. If you are a fan of Dune do yourself a favour and get this.
