Our Nanit Pro baby monitor
Our Nanit Pro baby monitor has been a true life saver these pivotal first weeks as new parents. The technology of the device provides peace of mind and allows you to rest comfortably (when able!) knowing that your baby is under constant monitoring of their breathing. Also, being able to monitor from anywhere is super helpful at the tips of your fingers on your phone- we find we are much less likely to end up in a different part of the house without our phones as compared to more standard baby monitors with separate portable monitors. The only downside would be the temperature and humidity readings seem to be off, and in particular the temperature is artificially elevated a few degrees (usually like a 4-5 degree discrepancy).

The only baby monitor you need
this monitor has so many features that I didn’t realize even when buying it. Leaving the audio on in the background of my phone while using other apps is incredibly useful or having the small screen in the corner as I do other things on my phone. Having the flex stand makes it so easy for us to take it on the go, either to our in-laws or other travel. Cannot say enough good things about this monitor. Wouldn’t consider another one.

Piece of Mind
We got this for piece of mind for our first baby. My husband works a very abnormal schedule so he loves being able to check on his little girl while at work. We also love the fact we can use this while we travel and at home!

Keeping in touch

Too high tech & buggy for us.
I purchased the Nanit after a friend highly recommended it, and I can see why many parents love it—it has some great features and a sleek setup. For us, though, it just wasn’t the right fit. We found the monitor connection through the browser to be unreliable—it often froze or lagged, which made it difficult to use consistently. The notifications also felt overly sensitive, alerting us to even the smallest movements near the crib. Additionally, since the system relies on phones or laptops as the viewing device, it didn’t work well for us as we prefer to put our phones away during downtime. One thing we did really like was the stand—it provided a great, clear view of the crib and felt thoughtfully designed. In the end, we decided to return the Nanit and go with a more basic monitor that better fits our needs.

Functional to an extent
I got the Nanit to have at home and travel with but didn’t realize I need a hotspot to work at every hotel. The zoom quality is no good and rewinding the footage takes a long time. It’s a good standard camera but I wouldn’t have bought this if I knew how limited in use it would be. I will say it’s a nice sleek design, portable physically and nice to look at when I’m at work and baby is with caretaker during the day.

Missing Key Functionality
We really love the camera but the wish the caregiver team could have access to add in activities such as feedings, diaper changes, medications, etc. This feature is only available with full access which we are not comfortable giving to our babysitters. Otherwise the camera is great.

We finally moved our 5
We finally moved our 5 month old baby to his own room because NO ONE was getting sleep and I was breaking. I had planned to have him sleep in our room until 1 year, but it just wasn’t working. My husband got Nanit to make the transition bearable for me. The first night in his own room, our baby slept soundly for 8 hours! I couldn’t believe it! While he slept through the night for the first time ever, I watched him on my Nanit phone app throughout the night with tears in my eyes. He baby didn’t need me right beside him all night after all! Haha! We are all finally getting sleep again. What a dream! Literally! :)
