I swear it knows when i put the baby down to sleep because the camera works fine all day and then at night time it wants to say its not connected to the internet. And theres only 3 devices on the network not including the camera. Very frustrating.

The camera will not detect the breathing band no matter what I do. Troubleshooting involves a completely useless AI thing that gives you responses that don’t even correctly relate to the products. Then when you select the option to email a human they have the audacity to auto-respond with what is either more bad AI or a canned response that has nothing to do with my query. I guess the monitor is fine (but insanely overpriced) if you don’t want to use the breathing functions that it advertises.

The nanit has not lived up to my expectations. I’ll get a notification that my baby “cried” but it won’t log it into the activity log. Notifications and activity are never synced. It hardly makes sense. It never records videos if she wakes up either. This monitor feels no different than any monitor and I even pay the premium. I’m super unhappy

Not a huge fan. I’m a tech worker so our wifi is very strong through out the house, but there is latency regardless of signal strength with this device. Manufacturer has some of it bypassing via their cloud so if their servers are moving slow you’ll experience delay in it loading which is dangerous when needing to keep an eye on your baby. Another functionality they didn’t consider or build in - what if internet goes out? They have no secondary safety mechanism that drops to say a radio wave or bluetooth to ensure you have constant visibility and audio to your child - so your wifi could cut you don’t realize it until 5-10 minutes later. My wife and I bought an old school radio wave based baby monitor for $30 off Amazon just in case this device drops. Overall the ideas great, especially use of breathing monitoring, etc. but my perspective is they spent way too much time on the feature engineering and forgot the safety stuff that needs to be built in if there is a signal latency, or loss of wifi all together to ensure parents can keep the continuous monitoring if something goes wrong. I shouldn’t have to buy a old school baby monitor as a fallback for a device I paid $300 for as well as $200 something for the subscription - it should have that hardware built in so you can protect the safety of the child. My perspective as a well educated STEM grad is the engineering just isn’t there - seems rushed to market with more focus on feature over function and completely missed of safety functionality.

As a care giver to my granddaughter who was born in March, I got to discover Nanit. Over thirty years ago as a first time mother we had our ears to monitor baby sleeping . . and a walkie talkie like audio only device that shared frequency with our neighbors so we were never sure if it was our baby or theirs crying. Having the white noise, audio and visual components all in one device with notifications on movement and breathing is an invaluable upgrade. I particular like the breathing rate to help guide if baby is in a light or deep sleep pattern. There is alot that will never change about caring for babies - providing love and empathy and safe keeping as top priorities - but Nanit has provided an excellent service for sleep time monitoring.

Setting up the app is increasingly more complicated every time you have to do it. The connectivity sucks. When it is done loading the video stream, it shows video for 15 seconds then loads again. Waste of money for an incredibly expensive item.

Had some issues with the camera intermittently disconnecting from wifi network. Usually would reconnect but sometimes device had to be re-paired to the network. Quite annoying when this happens in the middle of the night while baby was sleeping . Ultimately the camera stopped working 1 year and 1 month after purchase so it was out of warranty.
