Q: My coconut and vanilla shampoo was pink when I bought it is it still safe to use or should I throw it away?

submitted by Jasp - 8 months ago
  • A: Hi Jasp, Thanks for reaching out to us and great question! Some Native products may undergo cosmetic changes (e.g. change in color) during storage. This is typically driven by naturally-derived ingredients in our fragrance oils, with some fragrances more likely to cause changes than others due to their ingredient compositions. These cosmetic changes do not impact product efficacy or scent, and the product will perform as expected. We hope that helps put any concerns at ease! Please let us know if you have any other questions and enjoy the rest of your day :)

submitted by Amelia - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Amelia, Thanks for reaching out to us! Yes, Native Hair Care Shampoo and Conditioner are safe to use on color-treated hair. As with all new hair care products, it is a good idea to test out the products on a small section of your hair to ensure you like the experience & styled look. Q: Is this biodegradeable? Trying to find a good shampoo and conditioner for camping but it doesn’t say on the bottle if it is or not. Thanks!

submitted by CC - 1 day ago
  • A: Hi Cc, Thanks for reaching out to us and that’s a great question! Native hair care products are not currently 100% biodegradable, so we would not recommend using them in a natural body of water. However, this is something that we are looking into for future product launches! Please let us know if we can help answer any other questions and enjoy the rest of your day!

Q: Is the fragrance synthetic or natural?

submitted by Debbie - 2 months ago
  • A: Hi Debbie, Thanks for reaching out to us! We use the term fragrance for proprietary reasons. Our goal is to deliver amazing fragrance experiences with perfumes that abide by our high quality & safety standards. To make our unique scents we use a blend of essential oils, synthetic oils, and natural-derived extracts. All of our products are phthalate-free and paraben-free, and we abide by the International Fragrance Regulatory Association (IFRA) guidelines to ensure the safety of our formulations. We completely understand the need for transparency and would recommend using our Lavender & Rose or Unscented products if you are looking for an option where all of the oils are listed. We will make sure your comments here are passed along to our team as well! Please let us know if you have any additional questions and have a fantastic day!

Q: Why does Native hair products cause hair to fall out?

submitted by Pk22222 - 4 months ago
  • A: Hi Pk22222, Thank you for reaching out to us with your question! Our testing does not indicate that Native hair care products directly contribute to or speed up hair loss. While hair loss is a normal and continuous process that most people experience, factors like stress, aging, seasonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, and some medications may exacerbate hair loss. If you experience significant hair loss, we recommend speaking with your doctor. We hope that helps put any concerns at ease, and should you have any further questions feel free to reach out to us directly on our site, we're happy to help!

While I was rinsing this out of my hair, I can FEEL the residue it was leaving behind. Not only that but my hair INSTANTLY started falling out. This shampoo is really bad, for it being all natural ingredients it’s crazy to me how much hair was coming out.

The shampoo smells great but it gives me a rash on my forhead, neck, and shoulders. Once I changed shampoos to a different brand, I wasn't getting a rash from washing my hair. I also don't get rashes from other shampoos this has been a first.

Not the shampoo for me

So I took a chance and wanted to try a cleaner shampoo. I've heard really good things about native shampoo and I've been using there deodorant for years, so I though why not? I've used it now for about 2 weeks. I'm not sure if it just doesn't fit with my hair type or if there's too much oil in the shampoo but the top of my hair is so greasy and sticky after using this shampoo. I air dry my hair to avoid heat damage and maybe you're not supposed to do that with this shampoo but I feel it doesn't clean my hair. Rather it makes it more greasy and oily. Just not for me. If you already have a greasy scalp or greasy hair I don't recommend using this shampoo.

This shampoo has made me lose a lot of hair and it has damaged my scalp. There were many tender and raw spots on my scalp after I used this shampoo for a few weeks. And my scalp has now gone from raw and irritated to dry patches that won’t seam to heal. I have tried to heal my scalp from the damage this shampoo has done but it’s not gone away and it’s been a few months since I got rid of this horrible product. Even my hairdresser was shocked to see how badly my scalp was damaged after this. I have tried other products from this brand and everything I have tried has been terrible. Don’t buy this product and run far away from their deodorant as well.

I just tried it and it made my hair go from straight and a bit wavy to wavy hair. I have only used it once by the way so I will update at the end of the week. I recommend for people try not using the shampoo every single day but a few times a week or what works best with your hair. I recommend this for people with straight to wavy hair.

The only deodorant that had ever worked for me-

I originally bought this as a sample for my stepdaughter. One morning I couldn’t find my deodorant so I grabbed hers. I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m allergic to every deodorant I’ve tried, except this this one. I tried the peach & nectar one next. Love it. Then I tried the shampoo and conditioner. So good. I love how these products smell and work. I highly recommend.

I had dandruff before getting the native shampoo and conditioner and then switched to this thinking this one might help my dandruff. No it did not help at all, dandruff is worse! Only pro is the smell. It’s natural but a lot of build up and dryness.

Try it for yourself

I did a google search and found so many horror stories. Hair falling out and skin out breaks. I was terrified to try this shampoo and conditioner. But two months later, I found myself curious about if the reviews are accurate. I can confirm, my African American hair did not fall out. And my hair felt very hydrated. I’m a person who used L’Oreal and Aussie shampoo and conditioner. Native worked a lot better without weighting down the hair or flooding it with harsh chemicals. Try it for yourself to see if you will like it or not. Not everyone can handle the same products. I’m a native user for life after one day.

Idk why people are saying that this shampoo smells bad? I think both the shampoo and conditioner smells exactly like the body wash. This shampoo didn’t leave my hair greasy (like it did to others) instead it dried out my hair so much I had to constantly add hair oils because my hair was stripped completely. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this product.

Instating the amount of bad reviews this product has. I’m a professional stylist and the only reason I know of this shampoo/conditioner is I tried it at a friend’s house. I noticed IMMEDIATELY how much softer and smoother my hair was after one wash. This is a moisturizing shampoo/cond. if you have fine, straight hair it may be too heavy for you (which is why people are complaining it’s greasy) This is for DRY FRIZZY hair. In all the years I’ve done hair and used every professional product under the sun this beats MOST of them. There is only one line I like best- but it’s $60 for just the shampoo so naturally finding a $10 bottle is a steal in my opinion. For those saying you couldn’t rinse it well, you used too much. For those that say it wouldn’t clean your your hair : your hair is hella dirty and it needs more than one shampoo. Sulfate free shampoos don’t lather like regular shampoos. They are very gentle. So if your hair is really dirty you may need to wash 2-3 times. Applying the conditioner ONLY to the ends will help you not be “greasy”. I think if this product is selected for the right hair, and used properly you’ll find it to be a favorite.

I really wanted to love a "clean" shampoo & conditioner. I bought moisturizerizing thinking it would help but it made my hair so frizzy, I wore it in a claw clip every day. I used about half the bottle hoping it would get better but it didn't. I switched back to my old products. The smell was just ok .. a little more coconut would have been better. It smelled weird to me until about day 2.
