Oral-B iO Series 2 Electric Toothbrush Starter Kit

While the toothbrush itself works great, the design leads to massive mold growth. Despite following the recommended cleaning and maintenance of both the handle and replacement heads, mold grows.

5 stars for teeth-cleaning ability! I changed to Oral B at the recommendation of my periodontist as I have a history of gum recession. I've enjoyed the teeth-cleaning features of this brush. Unfortunately, I've had recurring issues with keeping this toothbrush clean. After just 2 months of regular use I began to detect a mildewy smell. The design, while sleek, tends to keep water inside - both the brush head and the handle head. I replace my brush head regularly but that does not solve the issue of the mold inside the handle head. I've now had the brush for 5 months and clean it every day according to Oral B instructional videos (disassemble and thoroughly rinse and dry both parts, allow to dry separately overnight); however, this still hasn't solved the problem. It's nearly impossible to dry all the crevices out completely after rinsing, and the brush head can't stand up on its own to dry overnight. I've soaked it in vinegar, denture cleaner, soap, etc., and still struggled to get rid of the smell. I don't really want to clean my teeth with something that molds easily - and I'm really bummed about it. I might switch to a different toothbrush model that doesn't have so many crevices.

I received this toothbrush yesterday and was a little disappointed. I believe the advertising is somewhat misleading, details below, and will return it soon. My two big issues are:1 - the toothbrush heads are different that the older versions and, from what I can find out, the old brushes are not interchangeable with the new model. I did not see that documented anywhere and 2 - Also, I think, the advertising implies there is a lighted timer display on the brush someplace. If there is, I cannot find it on the brush.

My dentist insisted I get an Oral B IO because I have crowded teeth and I would get a better clean. I ditched my sonicare for this toothbrush and I regret it deeply. I just got through picking an inch thick layer of black mold from the toothbrush connector. It is so poorly designed to have that issue. I’m mortified.

Very quiet, much quieter than the old model it replaced. We love how clean our teeth feel, and the clean feeling lasts all day. It’s a little slippery to hold, especially if it gets wet, but we’re getting used to that. The timer is helpful and so is the red light indicator that tells you you’re applying too much pressure. All in all we love our new toothbrush. Would highly recommend!

A few years ago My dentist recommended I should get an electric toothbrush Sonicare. I have been using it for a little over two years. My new dentist recommended to get an Oral B. So I recently purchased a io series 2. This unit is horrible, it says two minute timer. It does not shut off after two minutes not like my Sonicare. It just gives an extra vibration. vs the vibration it gives off during 30 sec quadrants. The neck of the head is way thicker than the Sonicare. And after ever use I have to pull off the head and clean it out I do not have to do that with my Sonicare. This unit was a waste of money I just hate it.

It’s simple and sleek. I like the weight of it. It did a good job cleaning my teeth. I also like it that it has multiple settings and the timer function.

I do love the fact that it is very gentle on your gums. The handle is so thick. The battery life is pretty good but it’s just not worth it for me. The price isn’t bad but buying extra toothbrush heads are.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used an electric toothbrush years ago, and it was decent, but this one is by far pretty darn good. First off it’s a black toothbrush, so for my spooky people you’ll love it (aesthetically). The toothbrush isn’t too heavy or bulky, easy to hold lightweight. The toothbrush comes with an easy dock to charge it. I just brush my teeth morning and night and put it back on the dock. The electric toothbrush has 3 settings, think low medium and high. I like using the first and second setting, the third one seems a little too much or abrasive for me. If you have a sensitive mouth/teeth or gums, you’ll be good with the first 2 settings. The first one is a light casual brushing (how most people would brush manually). The second setting is a little bit of a deeper clean, really spin brushes those teeth for a dentist feel. I can definitely see/feel a difference in my teeth since getting/testing out the toothbrush. The noise isn’t too loud, it’s pretty much the normal amount of buzzing you get from an electric toothbrush. There’s also a little timer that vibrates when you’re ready to go to the next side of your mouth, which is fun and helpful, that way your fully getting your teeth cleaned with the right amount of time and care. Would definitely recommend this toothbrush.
