Does not charge
This toothbrush has charging issues. I’ve bought multiple of the same one hoping it was just a fluke but it was not.

Inside attachment turns really gross quickly
I do not recommend this version of the oral B toothbrush. The inside of the attachment part gets black and gross super quickly and is very hard to clean. I’m not sure why they made the part inside so difficult to wipe down but it’s very unsanitary. I’ve wiped this part down and replaced it several times with no improvement. I prefer to stick with the original electric Oral B toothbrush which has the single metal attachment that you can clean much more easily. Definitely a huge product failure for this iO version.

We know how surprising it is to find a build up on your brush head, and want to help. What you're seeing is often just residue from regular use. Even with rinsing after each use, toothpaste can harden over time, creating a chalky coating that may appear black, brown, orange, pink, or grey on the metal shaft, rubber parts, and joints, as well as on the charger. Water and toothpaste can also collect on the brush head and handle, leaving a residue that varies in color depending on your toothpaste and water hardness. To help prevent it in the future, we recommend rinsing your toothbrush thoroughly as outlined in your manual, including the handle, and wiping down the charger. SO we can offer more help, please call us at (800) 566-7252.

Mold everywhere! Seriously disgusting
Loved how this toothbrush worked but the amount of mold it accumulated was disgusting. Starting cleaning it nightly (fully taking off the head not just a rinse) and there was still so much black mold. I have been congested for about 4 months and I wonder if this is related. Really unhappy with this product do not buy

We can certainly imagine your surprise upon discovering mold on your toothbrush, and hope your sinuses are feeling better today. Please know, our products go through many quality and safety checks to ensure they reach you in perfect condition, and that they're safe to use, and what you've described is not something we would expect. Based on your experience, we recommend you discontinue using the iO 2. While it’s rare, mold can develop after use if the brush is stored in a damp area or comes into contact with certain cleaning agents or soaps that can make the plastic porous. To prevent this, it’s important to clean and dry your brush after each use by rinsing the brush head under running water with the handle on. Then switch it off, remove the head, clean both parts separately, and dry them before reattaching. So we can learn more and offer more help, please call us at (800) 566-7252.

MOLD DESIGN FLAW
So disappointed. I really love how this toothbrush feels and functions, BUT it has a MAJOR design flaw. Within a few weeks, black mold built up all inside the handle and brush head - in tiny crevices that you simply cannot clean or keep clean, even if you detach the head, rinse everything, and set both parts aside to dry after each use. I've used electric toothbrushes for years and have not had this problem before switching to Oral B iO. A quick google search for Oral B iO mold will tell you this is an issue across the board with this series unfortunately. I will be contacting Oral B about this major health hazard.

We never want to leave you feeling disappointed, and are sorry your toothbrush has a build up of mold on it, Jessica. Please know that there’s nothing in our toothbrush components that would cause mold before use. Mold requires organic material to grow, which isn’t present in our brushes. While it’s rare, mold can develop after use if the brush is stored in a damp area or comes into contact with certain cleaning agents or soaps that can make the plastic porous. It does sound like you're cleaning your toothbrush correctly after each use, so this isn't what we'd expect. So we can help you further, please call us at (800) 566-7252.

Mold growth under brush head
I bought this toothbrush for my husband and I just a little while ago and we went to take the brush head off and there is mold growing underneath. We give our toothbrushes a thorough rinse after each time we brush. It was absolutely disgusting and with no way to properly clean where the mold is grown I am realizing our money is wasted.

Terrible moldy toothbrush
Gets moldy after only 3 weeks of use. Dried after each use and left on counter in ventilated area but still having the same issue. This happened with my other oral b toothbrushes as well. Terrible design and company that didn’t stand behind their product

DO NOT BUY- poor design. Mold gets trapped in toothbrush no matter how well you clean it. Oral B is even offering customers a credit towards a new toothbrush if they purchased this one, even though in my opinion a fell Refund from Oral B is needed.

Mold builds up too easily in this model. Too many crevices for water to get in.
1 reply from Oral-B team - 2 months ago
We're disappointed to hear this. Please know that there’s nothing in our toothbrush components that would cause mold before use. Mold requires organic material to grow, which isn’t present in our brushes. This is typically a result of excess toothpaste build up. To avoid this, be sure to thoroughly clean and dry your brush after each use. If you have questions or would like to share more, give us a call at (800) 566-7252.

The people with mold in these reviews clearly missed a step
This toothbrush works great and remains clean and very much usable as long as you follow the usage and cleaning steps. For all the people in the reviews who said there is a mold issue you clearly missed a step in how to use this toothbrush I have used it for over a year and never have had an issue as long as you follow the recommendation and change the brush head every 3 months like dentists recommend.

Oral B OI series 2
So far so good it manipulates through the speeds easily and starts at the lowest speed, which makes most sense. Though it doesn’t have the rubber groupage that older models has it it’s not as slick feeling as the Oral-B 1000 and feels lighter. For more sensitive gums the lower speed works well- . I haven’t tried the app yet but plan too . I chose this model instead of the more expensive one because I didn’t need all the feature features of the other..

Terrible design. Do not buy.
It doesn’t matter what you do, all of your toothpaste WILL leak out of your mouth through the vents on the toothbrush and drip down your arm and all over the place. It’s impossible not to make a mess. It’s forced me to brush exclusively in the shower. Also the battery life is non existent. I sometimes have to charge my toothbrush multiple times a week.

Thank you for taking the time to review our Oral-B iO Series 2. We're sorry to hear that your toothpaste is leaking out of your mouth. We do extensive quality and consumer testing to get the design just right, so we truly appreciate your feedback. It shouldn't leak if you have your mouth closed while brushing, so we'd like to connect about this and help. Please call us at 800-566-7252.

Johnson, we're so incredibly sorry to hear that this has been your experience. Be assured there's nothing in our brushes that can cause mold before use. This can rarely happen if it comes into contact with things of a corrosive nature. We suggest cleaning the brush head after every use by running the brush under running water when on. Afterwards, dry it off. We'd like to connect about this and help you further. Please call us at 800-566-7252.

bad design
there is a gap bw the toothbrush head and body- which will def be impossible to clean. also, felt very flimsy. retuned for the 1000
1 reply from Oral-B team - 2 months ago
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. This gap is normal and intentional. Once the brush is running, the gap allows for the brush to move and vibrate without impacting the casing of the body. The gap is also necessary to allow any water and toothpaste out of the brush stem. You can still clean the area by removing the brush head. If you have any questions, please call us at 800-566-7252.

Mold in my toothbrush! No matter how much I clean it, the holes in the head allow mold to grow in the head and the handle. Yuck! Will be buying another brand!
1 reply from Oral-B team - 2 months ago
Thanks for your feedback, Deanna; we're sorry to hear this has happened with your Oral-B iO Series 2 Electric Toothbrush. What you're seeing is likely toothpaste residue/buildup, since mold can only develop on something organic, not plastic or metal. We recommend following these steps for an effective clean: 1. After brushing, rinse the brush head and handle thoroughly under running water, with the handle switched on. 2. Switch the brush handle off, remove the brush head from the handle, and clean both parts separately under running water. 3. Wipe and thoroughly dry both the brush head and handle before placing the brush head back on the handle. Feel free to call us at (800) 566-7252 if you'd like any more assistance!
