DO NOT BUY. Worst toaster I’ve ever owned. It broke within a few uses. The metal piece inside that holds up the bread got turned/broken so the bread kept falling into the toaster and getting stuck. Oster sent me a replacement that did the same exact thing. Ewa from Oster Customer Service was not helpful after two broken toasters and Target Customer Service was not helpful either. Don’t waste your money on this junk!

12/01/2025: First piece of advice is plug it in and run it without anything in a few times. This gets rid of any odors coming from inside, and it's bound to have because of newness. After this, the little toaster works as it should. Sides and bottom of toaster get warm but not hot. For $20, it is just fine and everything that I expected.

Plastic Not Stainless Steel
The product description says “Designed with a sleek black stainless steel finish…” When I unboxed the one I bought, I discovered the exterior was black plastic. Because of the plastic exterior, I am afraid this toaster would be a fire hazard and will not use it. Looks like I’m out $30 and still don’t have a safe, usable toaster.

I was looking for a cheap toaster for my first apartment and was worried the only ones in my price range would be horrible quality, but this one is just what I was looking for! I think some reviews are a little harsh but when you consider this toaster is $30 it is great. I just keep mine at a low setting and it gets my bread golden brown! It might sound silly but I really love the « pop up » function where you can get the bread to go higher when taking it out of the toaster, its a really nice feature that even some more expensive toasters lack and it makes a big difference.

Plastic toaster with high rate of deadnon arrival.
This is a plastic toaster and is of very poor quality. The plastic gets very hot and smells like it’s melting. The unit I first purchased didn’t work out of the box. The lever wouldn’t stay down so the unit wouldn’t toast. Not recommended.

Regarding the lever not staying down, this issue often points to one of the following: Power Supply Check The toaster lever will only stay down if the appliance is properly connected to a working power outlet. Please ensure the toaster is plugged in securely. The outlet is functionally testing it with another device. You are not using a power strip or extension cord that may limit voltage. The Toasting Cycle Will Not Start Without Bread Some Oster® toasters are designed so that the lever will not latch unless there is bread (or another item) inside the slot. Try placing a slice of bread into the slot before pressing the lever down. Crumb Tray or Internal Blockage Sometimes, the crumb tray or internal safety mechanism can prevent proper operation: Ensure the crumb tray is inserted correctly and lies flat. Turn the toaster upside down and gently shake out any debris that may have shifted during shipping. If you've checked all of the above and the lever still won't stay down or the toaster still doesn’t function, your unit may have a manufacturing defect.
