Great machine - great price!
Probably one of the cheapest coffee beans to coffee machines around but... This machine goes beyond what I thought it would do. From normal coffee beans to being able to organise a one cup decaf coffee when needed via the ground coffee port. Very happy with my purchase so far.

Extremely disappointed with the noise level during
I recently purchased the Philips Series 1200 fully automatic coffee machine to replace my old one that had finally given out. While I appreciate some of the features, I'm extremely disappointed with the noise level during brewing. When the machine is making coffee, the vibration and noise from what seems to be the internal pump or compressor is excessive - the entire benchtop shakes, and the sound carries through walls and floors. My neighbours above, below, and on both sides can clearly hear it. Surprisingly, the grinder is relatively quiet; it’s the brewing process that's unbearably loud. It’s not acceptable to wake up the whole household and potentially the neighbours every morning at 5 a.m. just to make a cup of coffee. If this level of noise is typical for all Series 1200 models, I strongly question whether they should be on the market at all.

Disappointing
The machine operates reasonably but produces very weak and watery coffee. The espresso is NOT espresso with no crema to speak of, even when set on the finest grind. SO disappointed as I gave this machine to myself as a birthday gift, a costly mistake. Can NOT recommend. Sad!!

Philips Automatic Bean to Cup Coffee Machine
Overall very happy with my new Philips Automatic Bean to Cup Coffee Machine. It's surprising it's working out more economical than buying expensive instant coffees. (When buying coffee Beans on special.) My wife and I are really enjoying it. One thing I found disappointing was there was no water purify bottle included with the machine and in South Africa we don't qualify for any of the freebies available to overseas purchasers. They could have included a bag of coffee beans with the machine.

Happy First Timer
Upgraded after several Nespresso machines and we are absolutely loving this! Took a few trial and errors with bean types and strength, but have the settings down pat. Takes no more time than an pod machine and cleaning and quality is great.

A passable automatic coffee maker for the price
I am a lazy coffee drinker, so I switched from a Breville Barista Express to this automatic espresso machine. I love the drink options it offers (espresso or a fuller coffee), the milk frother and the grind selection. It is so easy to use and set up, which suits my 'lazy' coffee making goal perfectly. However, maybe it's the smaller size inbuilt portafilter or the bar pressure, but it doesn't seem to extract the same full-bodied coffee and the thick, rich crema that I used to get from my previous manual machine....despite using the same freshly roasted beans. I guess that's just something I'll have to get used to....because I do love the ease at which it produces a respectable (but not outstanding) coffee or espresso.

Huge Let Down
In all fairness I haven’t used the machine yet because the filter isn’t included with the purchase . I know it isn’t expensive for a coffee machine but it is incredibly mean not to include a crucial part. The filters don’t seem to be readily available . There is a long wait at the places I have checked so who knows when I will be able to use it . It is disappointing enough to make me write a negative review.

Happy with Series 800 EP0820/00 so far
I bought the Series 800 EP0820/00 Fully automatic espresso machine to replace a similar German-made machine, of similar price, purchased 7 years ago. Being more electronic, the Philips is easy to operate, and produces great coffee, both espresso, black and with milk froth. It is easy to clean when full of grounds, and the water tank slips in and out easily for refilling. My only minor dislikes of the Philips so far are that, compared to my previous machine, it it contains a lot of soft plastic, and does not feel substantial. Time will tell how the plastic components last. The machine is also extremely loud when starting a cup of coffee (it sounds like it is going to pop a gear!), and then settles into an acceptable decibel level.

broken down after a few months and the use is maybe 4 cups per day. manuals aren't helpful and website will only help you accept all the cookies, despite having paid for the unit. expect more from a philips product. will be claiming on the warranty it seems.
