I purchased this unit in June 2022 as an upgrade to a different brand that had failed within a year of use. It worked great in 2022/2023, but failed this year. The unit still powers on successfully and all the controls are operable but within the first several hours of operation it develops a sheet of ice along the bottom of the coil fins and stops removing moisture from the air. This is far too expensive of an appliance to fail within 2 years of limited use, so I suggest you look elsewhere.

Unit Icing up and leaking after 3 years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this unit 3 years ago and it worked great up until now. The unit is now icing up on the bottom 1/3 of the coils and is leaking water all over the floor. The air filter and coils are clean and the fan is producing good airflow. Based on my research the unit has a slow coolant leak. I am disappointed that such an expensive unit only lasted ~3 years. I really like the unit pump and wifi features but 3 years of life for such an expensive unit is unacceptable.

Hi there, Thank you for reaching us. I'm so sorry to hear that your LG refrigerator has developed a slow coolant leak, causing issues with icing and water leakage. I can imagine how frustrating and disappointing it must be for you, especially since you've been enjoying the unit's features like the pump and WiFi connectivity. I want to acknowledge that 3 years is not a reasonable lifespan for an appliance of this caliber, and I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. It's clear that we've fallen short of our quality standards, and I'm committed to making it right. As an LG representative, I want to assure you that we take pride in our products and our reputation for reliability. We're committed to resolving this issue promptly and fairly. I'd like to offer you a repair or replacement option, depending on your preference. Please reach out to us on social media @LGUSSupport so we can help you further. ^Cris

4 years in florida and running strong

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had absolutely no trouble with this and think the wifi app works great. I use this in a 2nd home and it allows me to keep an eye on the humidity in my condo in florida. It has run daily for 4 years now and I will replace it with the same unit when the time comes. The pump feature is a necessity. It pumps up into a sink when I’m away which often is 3-4 months. It also allows me to keep the a/c temperature set a little higher as this is doing much of the dehumidification. If you’re looking to buy a dehumidifier, don’t look any further.

Dehumidifies well. Convoluted setup. Bad Wifi App.

The ONLY reason why I bought a new dehumidifier is to have web based remote monitoring and control of my unit and basement humidity while gone for the off-season. My old one works fine. Before buying this unit I downloaded the manual in hopes of getting an overview of its web/wifi capabilities. But the manual is lacking info about what can be done via the ThinQ app and really only states one sentence: "Use the Settings feature to manage product or application settings." Gee, thanks. In a leap of faith, I bought the unit based on other successful wifi items I have (such as thermostats). I am very disappointed at the lack of feedback and features on the wifi app. You can turn it on/off, set a schedule, set humidity target and do a unit diagnostic. But it does not relay other information, such as the need to check the filter, whether is "actually" running or not and if there was some other fault, like the bucket full sensor. How you could build an app that goes to all the trouble and added technology and programming to communicate with the unit (or visa-versa), and then leave off half of the information and feedback as per the display of the unit? That reality baffles me. Also I have an above average aptitude for these kinds of things and setups, and even so can usually work my way through poorly documented setup, as in the case of this unit. However, I really had to try some patience on this unit and it's unfortunate and convoluted procedure to get it connected to my WIFI. There are also many instances of poorly explained procedures. For example if you want to use the pump option instead of the bucket or the drain, step 6 says "The pump will continue to operate if the water bucket is removed" but one inch to the right, a notes bullet point says: "The pump only operates when the water bucket is full," meaning the water bucket does does have to be in place, in order for the pump to work. Now that I have really examined the unit and the flow of water, I understand that the water always goes in the bucket and then is either dumped by hand or gravity drained, or pumped, but in all cases the bucket in place and filling up is always part of the process. It would be helpful to actually point that out and definitely not helpful for the manual to inadvertently contradict itself. A frustrating piece of equipment that falls short of my expectation, and very poorly

problem with alert

There is an alert that makes a loud chiming noise when the bucket is full. This is meant as an alert for those manually emptying the water bucket. For those using the automatic pump, this alert can wake you in the middle of the night, maybe multiple times. Horrible.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The best part about this dehumidifier is the built in pump. With the built in pump you dont have to worry about emptying the bucket which is a very convenient feature. It does a nice job keeping the moisture level under control in my basement. Overall a nice unit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I received this dehumidifier I knew exactly where to put it. We have a 'office"/laundry room that is always musty, even in the dead of an up north winter with heat running. (all those bankers boxes full of paperwork, and the reference catalogs DH uses in his business hold on to moisture). I was pleased by its appearance, sleek, clean design in black. The controls and indicators are large and easy to read, understand and set. I was able to move it around on the smooth rolling wheels with one hand. Mine has a pump so I don't have to empty a bucket, Such a great feature! I was able to run the tubing directly into the pipe next to my laundry sink that my washer drains into for discharge instead of snaking tubing across the floor into the floor drain. Kudos to that! Also - I can monitor and adjust the settings and the humidity level remotely using a wifi app and my phone, which means I don't have to go downstairs to check on the dehumidifier status. It is super quiet, I can hardly hear it, Energy Star rated for efficiency and it has worked great, sucking moisture out of not only the office/laundry room, but the entire lower level. According to the wifi app the humidity level has already dropped in the room it is located and I opened up the doors to the other rooms on the lower level and so it is also handling the air from the family room, bathroom and storeroom. I would recommend this model highly, especially to those who want to place it a little remotely from where you are every day.

Love the Wifi and Quietness

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Dehumidifier is much more quiet than any others I have used in the past. I have a large finished basement, with carpet and it is very musty and moldy during the summer. This dehumidifier was large enough to cover the entire room, and keep it nice and dry. We ran it all day, and it was not that noisy, which was a plus for me. The wifi is so fantastic. I keep run it wherever I am! We have another small home, and I like to make sure the dehumidifier is on before we get home from our cottage. With my phone and the Wifi, it makes it easier to have it running when we are about half way home. I am very pleased with this product, and may have to get another for the cottage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, this thing works great as a dehumidifier. Just want to get that out of the way. Also a major plus is the fact that there are so many options for draining the water bucket. You can have it pumped out or just drip out of a hose or just use the bucket and empty it out once its full. Love the flexibility. It's not really quiet, even on the low fan setting. But it's not unexpectedly loud and I would think it's about average in the level of noise it makes. My main complaint with it is the Wifi connection being only 2.4GHz and it does not support 5GHz. So I can't really use all the smart functionality through the app or Google Assistant.

The unit is very quiet, which is great for any space. Highly recommend.
