When using boxed rice products and following directions to a T, more often than not, rice comes out either undercooked or overcooked. However, this rice mix came out perfect texture and doneness. I also really enjoyed the flavor of this specific mix - it was perfect amount of flavorful and spicy but not hot. I added fresh tomatoes instead of canned tomatoes and it came out great. Highly recommend.

If you don't like tomatoes skip this because they sauce the rice sits in is a rich tomato sauce. It was great paired with the rest of our meal the kids did not like it on its own.

I made it according to the directions on the box, but I used diced tomatoes with habanero for a little extra spiciness. I didn't add any extra seasonings to the rice, and it taste even better than the other brand with added spices! Even as I empty the packet into the pot of water, I could smell the spices of chili powder and cumin. I will definitely consider this brand next time I'm looking for a rice dish side. I rarely see Zatarain's on sale, but would 100% purchase it over the other brand if it was! This was a nice addition to my surf and turf last night. You might be saying to yourself, Spanish rice with surf and turf? What kind of combo is that?? It might be unorthodox, but it was good!
