Q: Do the nipples fit the Avent glass bottle screw on part or do I need to use the evenflo nipple screw on ring too for compatibility?

submitted by Amanda M - 2 years ago
  • A: The Phillips Avent collars will work to use these nipples with Phillips Avent glass bottles. No need to buy Evenflo collars, they do not even fit the bottles.

submitted byNikki - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Amanda, we have not tested compatibility with other brands. Keep in mind that even if a nipple does fit a different brand of cap ring and bottle, it might change the flow rate as pieces are engineered to work specifically with their own brand. Thanks!

Q: What month do you switch to level 2?

submitted by Babymama - 7 years ago
  • A: Medium flow is generally from 3-6 months, however if the baby is under 3 months of age and the slow flow nipple is collapsing then you would want to look into the next flow size up.

Q: My baby is 9 months, she is currently on the medium flow, is that bad?

submitted by Wonton Mami - 3 months ago

Q: So wait. There’s a Slow Flow (1 drop), a Medium Flow (2 drops), and a XFast (4 drops)? But there’s no Fast flow (3 drops)???? You have to go right from Medium to XFast? My child is refusing the medium now, but the XFast is WAY too fast.

submitted by BRap - 8 months ago
  • A: Hi BRap, there are only 3 flows of nipples--slow, medium and fast. The "X" doesn't stand for extra fast. Rather, it stands for X-cut which is a type of nipple hole style. Our consumer care team would be happy to discuss this further with you if you'd like to reach out to support@evenflofeeding and mention CS-11864. Thanks!

Okay i loved the slow flow and was a die hard evenflo lover, but idk what is wrong with the fast flow nipple. It suctions every 4 seconds and I’m constantly having to open the lid and let the air back in. Extremely frustrating for me and my baby

Hi Samantha, we are happy to hear you love Evenflo bottles. All of our Balance nipple have a little vent that needs to be opened prior to each feeding. This helps prevent the nipples from collapsing. Here are specific instructions: https://www.evenflofeeding.com/blogs/bottles/how-to-squeeze-the-nipple-vent. If you need further help, please reach out to our consumer care team at support@evenflofeeding.com and reference CS-12554. We are happy to assist! Thanks.

    Best nipples for breastfed babies

These nipples are the best shape for breastfed babies. It’s the closest that I could find to the actual thing. I had to start pumping when I went back to work so baby eats from a bottle a few times a day. 100% recommend for moms that are breast feeding but need/want to give bottles as well. It actually helped her latch when she was very small.

    Perfect

These medium flow nipples work perfect for the wide neck balance bottles! As long as you make sure to pinch the vent before screwing the lid on the first couple uses to ensure it’s not stuck!

    Disappointed with Medium Flow

The nipples collapsed without my baby sucking much on them. The flow is fine for medium but something about the medium flow made my 3.5 month old have upset tummy after almost every feed. The nipples would also leak very easily even if secured correctly. The slow nipples were perfect. Not sure what the issue is with the medium flow. I might have to try a different bottle or go back to slow flow

    Design Flaws-Difficult to use

Evenflo balance nipple & ring are very difficult. Often the nipple implodes - see pics. Milk leaks when feeding. Very awkward design hard to get nipple in ring correctly. Only 1 person in household can get it set in ring properly-an Engineer. Good shape nipple for nursing babies, works well when set peoperly in ring. Baby likes shape.

    Great

These nipples fit perfectly with the advent glass bottles. It’s the only nipple my breastfeed baby will take and we have now transition to the medium flow at 2.5 months which is a perfect flow for him. Highly recommend for mommas looking for a bottle combination for breastfeeding.

Degrades to unusable after a month

After just one month of use, we noticed the milk flows out at a significantly faster rate than before, making it difficult for baby to swallow comfortably. When I asked Evenflo if it's common to deteriorate in this manner over such a short period, they offered nothing but excuses. To my concerns about the need to replace so frequently, they said to "routinely replace every 1-2 months." That is just crazy. We've used Dr Brown's for years without having to replace and will return to them after this frustration. They never seem to be in stock, either, so I'm just over it.
1 reply from Evenflo Feeding team - 11 months ago
Hi buttertobehonest, we hear your frustration. Replacing nipples every 1-2 months or as needed is standard in the industry. The fast flow nipple your baby is using is also x-cut, and those do tend to wear faster than a typical nipple. Unfortunately, we do not have a fast flow for the Balance wide without an x-cut at this time.

Absolutely love, using with Dr. Brown wide glass.

Love these 100% recommended to those who are breast and bottle feeding. I am using these nipples with the Dr. Browns wide neck glass bottles, without issue. I am primarily breast feeding but when bottle feeding we have switched to exclusive using this nipple. When using the traditional narrow nipples and then breast feeding I experienced extreem discomfort due to babys latch, but the evenflow nipple encourages a wide latch making going back and forth more comfortable.

    Great nipples for great bottles

These are great replacement nipples for the evenflo wide-neck bottles when it is time to increase your babies flow rate. The nipples do come with instructions. They will collapse if you do not get the vent open or if the lid is on too tight.

Works but Nipple collapses during feeds

Does the job and fits well. BUT it does collapse unlike the slow flow. I’m not sure if it’s the size of the hole or the milk that is being extracted from the bottle that causes it to collapse. With 4oz, I pull the bottle about 3-4 times from my baby’s mouth to fix it from the collapse. It causes bubbles to flow into the bottle from the hole in the nipple. What bugs me is that my daughter does not know why I do it, and she gets upset that I pull the bottle away.

Only got 1 medium flow nipple

Well I realized only after washing and drying the nipples that we got 1 medium and 1 slow. This is super obnoxious and frustrating. Works well with the 1 we got. Would give 5 stars if we had both nipples that were medium flow.

Hi DKRogers42, It is recommended to squeeze the vent immediately before feeding to ensure the bottle vents properly and the nipple doesn't collapse. Nipple shape changes with size

I did A LOT of research before my baby was born knowing I was going to nurse and bottle feed. I wanted the best most comfortable option for us both. The newborn nipple slow flow was great! We had no problems and she was enjoying her bottle. Once she hit 3 months out LC said we should increase the flow on her nipples. We ordered the next size up for the medium flow and the entire shape of the nipple is different. I noticed, but prayed she didn’t. She did. It was a nightmare and now she was refusing the bottle. Why on earth would you change the shape?! Know babies and babies and so finicky!? I truly don’t understand. We needed up going with Lansinoh. So not recommended evenflo for this reason. Who knows you may be able to be persistent, but the shape may also be different on the high flow!
1 reply from Consumer Care team - 1 year ago
The Evenflo Balance + nipple shapes are identical for each flow rate. The same mold is used to manufacture every nipple. A different process is used to change flow rate. Perhaps the nipples you received were for a different model? Please reach out to us at support@evenflofeeding.com with photos so we can assist. Thanks.
