I still read it so I could read the rest, but it was a bit of a slog for me, hard to push through the heavy information bits. But worth it if you want to get to the better books (seeing as it is necessary information to know).

I cannot read further than the first chapter. seriously the writing is terrible.

The writing of this book is so bad. So bad. There are so many books that are written wayyy better in this genre. I had to Google if Sarah maas had a degree because the writing is so poor, she does. Yet I cannot help but feel foolish for buying this trash. The sentences are strung together like a kindergarten age child wrote this. It really sucks. I have no idea what the book is about because I cannot get any further into it than chapter 2 because of the terrible writing style. I am just glad I only bought the first one and not the whole set. I read that many people feel her second book in this set is better, yet I look at the print edition that I bought and it was like 42nd printing. 42 printings and no one thought to correct the writing yet. I thought with the rave reviews it has to be a hit, like fourth wing, the wolf king, vampire diaries, on wings of blood... those are some I've read this year that were great.... this book here, it's not for me.

Call me an addict. This was AMAZING

Worth every penny. I normally don’t read series like this or anything fantasy, but decided to give this series a go. Let me tell you, I’m HOOKED. I couldn’t put the books down even to eat. If you’re like me, and not a huge fan of drama or love stories this one is worth taking a chance on.
