Great Stereo But Expect to Buy your own power adapter
I really disliked that the AC adapter that was included in the box didn't work at all. I had to buy a 90W power supply. I expect everything to work when I buy something. The AC adapter is very poor quality.

A HiFi Stereo
This GPO portable stereo sounds very smooth, balanced and articulate . The very first boombox I've ever been able to play on flat mode (no bass or treble boost), and it still sounds full, with an extended low end, nice treble and unusually good stereo imaging for a one-piece ghetto-blaster. How do they do it? I opened it up and ran a few tests. Here are the results... This boombox has a pair of built-in real wood speaker enclosures! (see pics) How great is that? Each enclosure measures 9 1/2 x 9 3/8 x 4 1/2 inches HWD and is constructed of 1/4 inch wood panels. Each enclosure is a bass-reflex type, with a 1 inch diameter port and a 4 1/2 inch duct. The bass-reflex port is on the side of the enclosure. It actually pumps out sound through vents near the bottom of each side of the unit. The woofer is a 4 1/2 inch good quality driver featuring rubber roll surround, a good sized ceramic magnet, and a phase plug for improved high frequency performance. Each woofer is 4 ohms and handles 30 watts (RMS, I believe). The tweeter is an actual 1 inch soft dome. The same type of soft dome tweeter found in many home speaker systems. This soft dome appears to be made of a soft mylar diaphragm. Crossover to the tweeter is via an unusually large capacitor, a DV335J. I measured the woofer resonant frequency and it is 85Hz. I only pulled the woofer out of the cabinet and measured right there. I did not want to cut all the wiring and suspend the woofer in the middle of the room as is the proper method. I then measured the cabinet resonance at 51 Hz, very nice. And the port resonance is about 41 Hz! This speaker system can touch lows all the way down to the bottom octave. Very good extension for a boombox. The amplifier is a HT-317 chip made by Heroic (?). Very little data available. Most in Chinese. Output is claimed to be 40 watts at 10% THD. However, there is a HT-318 made by a different Chinese manufacturer that looks virtually identical. Its data sheet claims 30 watts at 1% THD, 85 dB S/N, 75 RR and a whopping 95 dB CT. I measured, strict IHF guidelines, 22 watts/ch RMS, 4 ohms, from 90 Hz to 18 Khz at about 1% THD, no clipping. Also, overall Amp Freq-Resp measured at 50 Hz to 20 Khz (-3dB). Crude THD measurements down to 0.3%. I then measured one channel of speaker system. Crude, but, oh well. 45 Hz to 20 Khz (-10dB). For in-room, that's totally acceptable. Power consumption is 70 watts, which explains why this unit has some decent power output. Power supply is 18V 5A, and features delayed turn-on, a nice feature usually found only on home components. What a great sounding portable stereo. Finally, something that doesn't screech or fatigue and is meant for the critical ear. Highly Recommended
