    Excellent in Espresso Half-Caf Blend

    We switched from drip to espresso machine a few months ago. I drink half-caf with the decaf beans also from SF Bay Coffee - the Gourmet Blend, a medium dark roast. I was using the Italian Roast Extra Dark for the full caf beans. After using up the Italian Roast, I decided to buy this French Roast instead and I find the blend has a bit more complexity, with a dark chocolate sweetness in the finish that's absent from the previous mix. When I first began buying SFB coffees 11 years ago, it was the French Roast that provided the introduction and I'm happy to return to it

    Oily Beans

    My last order is exceedingly oily. So much so that it plugs up my Baratza Encore burr grinder. You beans are usually oily, but this batch appears to be overboard. It makes it difficult to brew a consistent pot of coffee.

    Great Coffee

    Better than Trader Joe's French Roast

    We've been loyal to Trader Joe's French Roast for years, but we've always had to take the edge off it by mixing in 25% cold brew. Now TJ's has stopped making their French Roast, so we tried San Francisco Bay's. We prefer it. It's just as robust, but with a smoother finish, and we can drink it later into the day than TJ's.

    Classic dark roa

    SF Bay's French roast is the closest I can find to European dark roast coffee beans, which somehow manage to be robust and smooth. Most French roast beans I have tried produce a nice aroma, but they smell just like a medium roast bean and usually have the flavor that matches. This roast is similar to the original Peet's French roast of the 1970's, which stopped traffic mid-morning on the north side of Berkeley. Trucks, cars, vans, and pedestrians clogged Walnut St. to get to the only brew, the French Roast, Peets poured in the mornings.SF Bay's is an excellent version of this classic bean.

    Best coffee

    This is my favorite coffee! I make it in the French Press, then refrigerate it and drink it cold for the next few mornings with some cold almond milk and a smidge of cinnamon. Its consistently delicious and a good value for the money. Happy customer!

    Too oily

    Your coffee tastes fantastic! My only problem is, when I first started buying your products, I loved that the beans were not oily. That changed about 3 or 4 months ago. When the whole beans are oily it tends to clog my grinder. It would be awesome if you could ease up on the oil.

    The best roast

    The best French roast! I have had many brands of coffee,. I was a chef for 30yrs, needles to say I drank a lot of coffee.SFBay French roast is always a perfect cup! Smooth never bitter always low acidity . I lean to a fine grind and use a French press or pour over. Always the perfect cup!
