The Integrated Grinder is Great
We've had the Breville Dual Boiler for the past 7 years and switched to the Barista Express Impress recently when the steaming function on the DB stopped working. So this is really a comparison of those two Breville machines. While I like the smaller footprint of the Impress, and the need not to have a separate grinder on the countertop, the Dual Boiler (DB) is a much more powerful and better espresso machine. The PROS for the Impress are: the smaller footprint, integrated grinder and tamping features. My husband says it makes better espresso than the Dual Boiler, but maybe that's because its new and our Dual Boiler needed servicing. The CONS: The steaming function on the Impress leaves a lot to be desired. It takes a few moments to 'prime' before the steam comes out, it takes much longer to steam milk than on the DB, and is much louder than the steam function on the DB (like very loud and high pitched). The drip tray fills up fast on the Impress. It seems as if water is released as part of the brewing or steaming function, and the drip tray needs to be emptied every 2-3 days. The DB could go much longer without having to empty the drip tray. The water and bean hopper on the Impress are smaller and therefore, need to be filled up more often then the DB. In the DB, water can be refilled from the front of the machine, which is more convenient. Overall, I like the smaller footprint of the Impress and integrated grind/tamp, but really miss steam and overall functionality of the Dual Boiler which seemed like a better made and more robust machine.

Breville makes delicious coffee and it's fun to be the barista at home!
I love this machine! My only slightly negative comment would be the noise. It's not a quiet machine but everything else is top notch! Easy to set up, easy to clean, easy to use and delicious coffee every time!

Amazing shot consistency
I was very skeptical of the all in one expresso machines as I had bought into the idea that they were compromises all around. When we moved back from overseas I was pushing for an expensive separate grinder machine combo when the wife spotted this and fell in in love. I reluctantly agreed and have been blown away by the incredible consistency of the shots. We've changed beens several times over the past few months and if it does take a small grinder adjustment with new bag, once done it will do shots indefinitely within literally a couple of seconds range. Time between steaming and a shot is less than 5 seconds even with the single boiler. Can't recommend this machine high enough. Never going back to a full manual.

Never can get a consistent shot
From the start we’ve had issues with the machine. It’s not consistent at all.

Great results, worth the spend
Purchased 2 weeks ago. After thoroughly researching many espresso machines and brands, we landed on the Breville Barista Express Impress. We were unsure about spending this much, would it be worth it? The answer: absolutely!! If you love high quality coffee & espresso as we do, you won’t be disappointed. This machine is easy to use and produces espresso as good as any pro coffee house. The onboard grinder is a must, easy and convenient and saves time. Easy to learn and get up to speed for the novice barista. The only downside is that we’ve gone though 2 bags of beans in 2 weeks. It’s too easy and too convenient…

Great machine for making Espresso at Home!
Breville Express Impress, with many user-friendly features, like automatic, guided grinding / tamping helps even a beginner to make cafe-grade espresso / latte at home. With its commercial grade design, the product is really a value-for-money Coffee machine! The water tank behind the machine snugly sits, and I just pour over water to refill it - no need to take out. I love Breville Express Impress especially for the money saving with this machine at home!!

Great coffee machine
We bought our machine 2 weeks ago, so it is still early to say. But so far so good. Good coffee, off course that is depending on the coffee beans used. The machine is easy to use and comes with good instructions. It does has a lot of spilled water in the resevoir in the bottom, so make sure to keep an eye on that. Overall very happy, great look in the kitchen

Espresso Love
I wanted an espresso machine both semi- and mainly-automated. But more than that, I wanted an espresso maker that made serious espresso. I'm still experimenting with the manual settings, and that's great. You can be a Saturday morning barista or a trained barista. This thing accommodates each. This was my Saturday afternoon cappuccino.

Good machine
Overall great coffee machine, however the grinding function seemed to have broken almost instantly. The vibration of the grind defaults the machine to always be set at courses, no matter how many times i reset.

Good but difficult
After returning the first Barista Express Impress that would not dose properly, the second machine works fine. However, the touch controls are so sensitive that mistakes are easy to make and you can waste lots of grounds. The instruction manual does not include a "Trouble shooting" section. Big error! I still have trouble when switching from the dual filter basket to the single. Overdose time! Very frustrating.

I am absolutely enjoying my machine. So glad that I pull the trigger on it because I was on the fence. It was so easy to set up. I now have a perfect cup of expresso every morning.

Hot Water Function Poor
Hot water function sprays and gets water all over machine and counter. Expect better water function for price of machine.

Good but not perfect.
Overall, very good. The tamping system is great. There are a couple of issues, though. The hidden tool compartment behind the drip tray is a great idea. Unfortunately it's useless because it fills up with water. I never let the drip tray fill to overflowing so I suspect the tool compartment gets splashes from the steam wand. As per the instruction manual, I let the steam wand run into the tray before inserting it into the milk. This can take up to 20 seconds before the wand stops spurting and spluttering and delivers consistent steam. You have to do this before steaming every jug, not just the first. The other issue is that I've given up pouring 2 cups of espresso at once. The amount poured into each cup is inconsistent. Quite often (but not always) the cup on the left gets a lot of coffee and the one on the right doesn't get enough. Previous machines I've used on the same bench haven't suffered from this problem. So now I always grind and pour one cup at a time, even though it takes a little longer. In the end, however, the machine makes good coffee.
