A: If you’re using them to store cooked food, let the food cool off completely before you flip the latches closed on the lids. You can cool slightly warm food (once it is just warm to the touch, as it’s not good practice to cool very hot food in the fridge, nor leave it to cool completely on the counter out of the fridge) in the containers and put the lids on after you food has reached the temperature in the fridge. If you latch them closed while the food is still warm and then place them in the fridge, you’ll be creating a slight vacuum inside the container, which will make it more difficult to remove the lid after everything is cold.

However, two whole Cornish hens may not fit comfortably in the 9.6-cup container without being tightly packed. For best results, we recommend using a larger container to ensure the hens are fully submerged in the marinade, and the lid closes securely. Our Brilliance containers are freezer and microwave-safe, so once marinated, your food can be safely stored overnight or longer.
