I really like this vacuum. It has tons of suction power, is easy to navigate, and the attachments are very useful. However, the cord is way too short. You pretty much have to unplug the vacuum and move the cord for each room. Also, the hose is too short. If you take the handle off to use the hose to, say clean your bathroom rug, the vacuum will fall over as soon as you start using the tool. The hose is short and when it sucks hard it gets rigid which then pulls the vacuum over on top of you, which is pretty infuriating. I don't regret buying this vacuum, but I sure don't enjoy the short hose or cord.
I give Shark company as a whole a 3 star rating. Here's why: I bought a Shark vacuum and have been extremely happy save two things that I have written Shark about. 1. The housing with the brush bar is hard plastic with no rubber/soft material on the edges. The result is scraped & scratched baseboards and furniture. 2. As with many other customers, I have issue with the very short hose. So instead of holding something like a couch cushion in one hand and vacuum hose in the other, I have to put the detached canister in left hand and hose in the right and try propping cushions up. Vacuum one side, put vacuum down, flip cushion--repeat. Too cumbersome! Then try doing this with items that are high up like ceiling fan blades. So here I am ready to buy another vacuum (my old Shark going strong by the way) to keep upstairs. In 6 years since I bought my last vacuum, I and tens of thousands of other customers have told Shark that we DO NOT like the short hose. Have they listened? NO. WHY? Are sales so good that they don't care if I buy again? I like the reviews on the HV586 but I think I'll search for a vacuum that has the features customers ask for. Shark: Thanks for the memories
So far so good. I wish it had a retractable cord. Springing it up on the hooks feels antiquated lol. Suction works good. I like all the add on pieces. It is heavy for my 8 year old. The lift away part is pretty heavy. It does fall over easy.
Didn’t work, right out of the box. Roller did not work. I called Shark customer service and they said it was not covered under warranty! I can’t return it to Target because they aren’t accepting returns!

I wish I had the experience that some of the other owners have expressed. I curse and I'm aggravated every time I use this machine.
Why would bet that the designer and the people that okayed the design of this vacuum do not have to use this vacuum at home.
My biggest peeve is the extension hose. When you extend the corrugated hose the vacuum either falls or comes flying towards you. The roller brush needs continual cleaning. When vacuuming carpets, you must vary the suction depending on the nap of the carpet if you do not and the roller brush stops you must stop the machine and start it again before you can resume vacuuming. I assume this is a safety feature but aggravating all the same. This vacuum is not without merit it has excellent suction and some features are convenient. Based on aggravation alone , I could not nor would not recommend this vacuum. I literally hate this vacuum. But for the amount I paid I just can't throw it out. I'm almost hoping it breaks soon.
