I came to add this product to my favorites list and was surprised at all the bad reviews! I don't know about the old formula but I love this one. I think the key is to use very little and let it warm on your skin a bit as you apply. Truly I use about half the end of a q tip for both lids and it makes my eyeshadow look fresh all day! I've never had an issue getting it out of the tube and I think the texture is perfect - other primers I find too thin and watery. I'll be buying this one until they don't make it anymore!

Works great with any eye shadow and no creases, not oily and good quality paste. If anything I wish they would lower the price.

I have very oily skin and eyelids. To the point where my hair and face starts getting oily only a few hours after i wash them. This is a gamechanger!! No creases for about 12 hours so can definitley be used from day to night. I sometimes even put it on my t-zone and mix it with a facial primer, because i feel like the facial primer alone doesnt do the trick. You just need to make sure you are cleansing well when you take your makeup off to avoid clogged pores.

SUPER GREASY FORMULA AND FOR SOME REASON IT MAKES MY EYE SHADOW NOT STAY. RETURNED IT AFTER 2 USES.

I am so glad I didn't listen to all the negative reviews! This is my favorite eye primer, way better than Urban Decay. The texture makes it easy to apply without leaving any residue. The formula is built to make your eyeshadow last on my oily lids.

I purchased 2 on the 21 Days of Beauty. Once received I opened and the first tube was hard and product would not come out no matter how hard you squeezed. The second tube was exactly the same. It's like old dried up product.

I'm honestly confused by the negative comments because this works really well on my hooded oily eyes. It helps my eyeliner last all day and not transfer. My eyeshadow blends well over it and doesn't crease or get eaten by my skin throughout the day. And the packaging is fine, it doesn't bug me at all.

This is a product that I will continuously repurchase. The tiniest amount provides a smooth yet tacky surface that helps shadows stick yet blend at the same time, and allow their full color payoff to shine through. I use this with my multichromes, my mattes, my shimmers, you name it. I recommend it to anyone I know in the market for an eye prime.

I agree with positive reviewers! Best eye primer i have ever used. A tiny bit goes a long way! Eye liner & shadow lasts all day! Totally recommend!

worst primer in history . drug store primers are way better then this . save your money 💰

it does the job for short days but it's predecessor 24 hour photo finish shadow primer had much more hold and was easier to get out the the tube. this formula is much thinner sadly. I have oily lids and and still looking for a dupe.

I also cannot relate to negative reviews. I have tried every eye primer out there and none work as well as this. This keeps my eyeshadow and liner on all day. I havent tried overnight. My shadow and eye makeup looks the same as when I applied it in the morning to night, about 10 hours. I like the tube, as I can see how much product is inside and control it more easily.

I am totally baffled by the low ratings on this eye shadow primer. I am in my early 70's and this is the best I have found. I tried many others and for years used Urban Decay, but they creased in my lids and when I found Smashbox, I never looked back. I understand there are a lot of primers out there and some I have never tried, but this one works great for me...so the search was over. Love it.

This product makes a huge difference for my lids. My makeup stays all day!

I am truly bewildered by all the negative reviews! I cannot travel or do my eyes without this primer (and yes, I am currently using the "new" packaging and formulation). I have what might be the world's oiliest skin and eyelids. This primer is indeed a bit thick and paste-like, but goes on smoothly. It prevents my graphic liner from running or transferring to surrounding skin. It lasts all day! I'll work a little into a pointed cotton swab (for cleaning up purposes) on the back of my hand — and if I don't remove it with a cleaning balm before leaving the house, it stays on my hand all day even with vigorous hand washing in healthcare…..so I don't get why all these reviews say it does not last.

Purchased this eyeshadow primer after my older one ran out, unaware that the formula changed even though the packaging was way different. Previous left my eyeshadow always beautiful for hours despite me having oily eyelids. This new one makes my eyeshadow terrible after 30 minutes. Completely not gripping at all. Return back to the old formula. People are out here purchasing the older formulas on different websites.

I have used this product for the last 10 years and I would not apply eyeshadow without it!!

I used Smashbox's shadow primer for my eyebrows. It was the best thing I ever found for my eyebrows. I hardly have any eyebrow hair and I have oily skin. The old primer stuck like glue with a perfect consistency that allowed me to draw my eyebrows in with a micro eyebrow pencil and achieve an eyebrow look that was as close to natural brows as I could ever get. All of a sudden I started having a lot of trouble getting my eyebrows right. It used to be easy and quick to get the perfect look. Now they looked like trash no matter what I did, I was stressed out. I don't remember how I figured it out but eventually I realized the eye shadow primer was the culprit. After some research I realized they removed the talc. After J&Js lawsuit I guess others are getting ahead of the issue by removing talc. I get it but it's been rough. I haven't found anything else that is even close to that good. I started adding some laura mercier setting powder to add talc and it helps a bit but it's still not the same. Part of me wants to agree to sign a waiver just to have the original product back. Anyway, get ready for more of your favorite products to suddenly becoming devastatingly disappointing, it looks like a lot of companies are removing talc.

I have bought the original eyeshadow primer for years and love it . You could sleep with your makeup on and look great in the morning. For some reason they decided to change the packaging and product. Now it is terrible. It doesn't last and it gets gritty during the day.Please go back to the original one.
