A: Hi, thank you for your question! The batteries provide the power needed for the Swiffer PowerMop to operate. To install them, locate the purple plastic battery compartment on the back of the mop. You will see an arrow pointing upward; push the compartment up to remove it, then insert the batteries as indicated. Once the batteries are installed and the compartment is securely back in place, press the button on the mop handle to dispense the cleaning solution and get the most out of your Swiffer PowerMop.
