Great clarifying shampoo
I love this shampoo. It did an excellent job of breaking down excess product in my hair from having braids and it was really soft. It did not make my hair hard. I have high porosity type 4 hair and it still cleaned my scalp and didn't strip my hair.

Keeps a wash day seamless
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Doux BREAKDOWN Clarifying Shampoo like other Doux does not skimp out on sizing. You a get a big pump, though not too much waste in product at a time for 12oz. Which I truly appreciate in natural Black haircare. The shampoo boast itself as a clarifier. Which I’d second but with an amendment that it’s in the category of moisturizing clarifiers. But as an in-between wash—meaning when I’m not in a protective style like braids. This did its job. I have low porosity high density coils and kinks that can be prone to buildup on my hairline. I always have my hair completely saturated before I shampoo and I’d recommend that for any other other low-po folks and in general. The shampoo is mucosal almost which didn’t bother me because it didn’t just coat my hair in film and it wasn’t a pain to wash off. The water and my hair saturation made it easier too. After shampooing my scalp was calm and my hair felt clean too but wasn’t tangling in on itself from water loss ruining my pre poo process. For more lowkey styles I’d use this but in the times I’d let my style stretch weeks to a month cause of just life, a real chelator and clarifier is need on my scalp.

Product doesn’t match dispense method
It is very very thick and had a hard time coming out of the pump. It might just be from winter temperatures, but dang. Might have been better in a squeeze bottle? It did do the job with a thick lather & pleasant scent.

It really removes all build-up
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] recently moved from a house with a water softener to an apartment with EXTREMELY hard water. My first several washes at my apartment made my hair feel absolutely awful. I have been on the olaplex train for several months—but idk if it was the combo of the formula + hard water, or just the hard water overall. But I had such a thick film over my hair, and I couldn’t even run my fingers through it. It felt and looked gross! I saw that this shampoo was specific to those with hard water and/or build up (and have heard good things of the brand) and ordered right away. Guys…one wash, (I shampoo twice), and my hair is back to how it was with soft water!!! Shiny, smooth, and no build up when I run my fingers through. Go out an get this. You want regret it!

I used a small portion and was able to feel the difference in the way my scalp felt. When I used it on extensions, the hair curled immediately upon use.
