Q: Does this support hdmi arc soundbars?

  • A: Yes it does but I couldn't get it to work with 2 sound bars I purchased, Samsung and Phillips. Watched many videos and read many articles and they still didn't work. They worked fine on a Toshiba TV so I know the soundbar wasn't the issue. CEC wouldn't find soundbars when searching. Used at least 5 different HDMI cables also. Still no go!!!

    We had a 70" before we moved and it was great! So we upgraded the size for our new home and bought 3 others for the bedrooms/office. The sound absolutely SUCKS on ALL of them. It goes from a normal volume to SO LOUD that we're running for the remote. Then it gets incredibly quiet. We vary the volume every day from 13 to 60 depending on what show we're watching. So if the volume is fine on CBS and we turn to NBC, the volume needs to be adjusted. Then a commercial comes on and we're blown thru a wall! If not from a commercial, when the show returns from a commercial, the volume changes AGAIN! Now Vizio can blame streaming services, etc., but this was never an issue with their previous TV's or the other brand of TVs we have/had. Now their just pumping out junk. It's so disappointing! We had bought a sound bar and can't even use it because of the TV volume issues. Look at another brand. If I hadn't had the TV's shipped BEFORE our move, I would have returned all 4!

    Worst setup experience ever. If you want to use the TV, you must create a Vizio account and register it. I had to create TWO accounts. The first account would not let me accept the terms and conditions, and until you do that you can't register the TV. I then created an account via Google authentication. Once that was done, I had to register the TV THREE times before the TV would start working. Now I'm getting three copies of every email Vizio sends me. Once it got past the registration screen the (I'm assuming 2-3 second) Vizio animation could BARELY play. It takes about 15-20 seconds just for the home page to completely load. What's in this thing? An 8086? I logged into my Plex account and tried to play some local media and anything over 720P (even though this is a 1080 screen) would studder almost immediately. Even the highly optimized media from streaming services like Disney+ would studder occasionally. I know it's not a network issue (unless it's an issue with the Wi-Fi card on the TV) because the TV has a clear line of sight to an AP less than 15 feet away and all my other Wi-Fi devices get up to ~1Gb depending on the version of WiFi the device has. The display itself is its only saving grace. It might make this TV usable if you only use it through a Chromecast/Firestick or something similar.

    The VFD40M0808 40" was a replacement for our legacy (12yearold) Vizio E3901-A1 40" screen. The older set had a defect at the bottom of the screen barely noticeable yet we chose to replace. In doing so...much was given up! The legacy TV has more features of value that the new TV does not...all setting related. Very few options on new TV. Overall...We could have continued using old TV...we really didn't gain much! Or perhaps looked to there brands. The only 2 features we like are Alexa and Chromecast compatibility.

    Worst TV I have ever had. Internet connection gets dropped all of the time even though wifi connection is fine on my phone and computer so I know it is the TV. Tried changing cable connection but hasn't made much of a difference. Other times watching TV and screen freezes and shows loading icon. Remote doesn't work very well. Have a speaker system hooked up and sometimes sound doesn't come out. As soon as I get enough money I will buy a new one. Definitely regret this purchase.
