This microwave came with the new house we bought. The make of this machine is very poor. Hardly couple of years of use - that too very light usage since we dont use it that much, and this is a bust. The microwave runs just by opening the door. Reading around Whirlpool site, I see 100s if users complaining about similar issues. Really Whirlpool should be ashamed to produce such low quality products. Adding insult to the injury, the cabinet cut out forces us to look for similar low grade products from Whirlpool.

This brand microwave came with my new house. We've only live here for a little over 3 years. Warming food and all of a sudden we smelled something like electric burn. The horrible smell was coming from the microwave. I have read the reviews for the 2.2 size that I have and they are all very bad. Now we are stuck with trying to find a Whirlpool microwave that will fit the dimensions for the space, and we are not fairing well with this. The rest of our appliances are Whirlpool so we are trying to stay with this brand but we cannot find one that will fit without the very bad reviews. Anyone else having this issue? Model # WMC50522HS2

We bought our house that came with the Whirlpool microwave. The unit was fairly decent in size and very efficient. However, not even 5 years has passed, we found that the digital screen was malfunctioning, and the surface of the inside top part of the microwave was starting to wear off. That’s when we saw sparks inside the microwave when we were heating food.

First Microwave and warranty replacement died

Got this microwave new from builder in my new house and it died in less than a year. I was able to get a warranty replacement and that died after 2 years. I opened it up to attempt to repair a blown fuse which I'd heard was a common issue with this, however, I noticed burnt wiring. Very consistently poor quality from this model. Additionally, the refrigerator that came with our new home also failed several times over the first year and had to be repaired. When the same issues re-occurred shortly after the warranty expired they refused to cover it. Poor quality appliances and poor warranty coverage.

Microwave came with new home construction. Model number is WMC50522HS 2 It runs while off when door is closed. Have to turn off by switch in breaker box. Absolutely ridiculous it only lasted 4.5 years. What's more disturbing is seeing all the other complaints about the same thing occuring in many other people microwaves.

Stopped working in less than 3 years. After 2 years it started glitching where we would open the door and the plate would start spinning. Then it wouldn’t cut off when done we would have to unplug it after each use. Then it just stopped working all together

Don’t waste your money… not even a year old and stopped heating… completed all instructed actions for troubleshooting and nothing worked…. Under warranty but the closest repair place whirlpool sent is 3 1/2 hours from my city… always been a whirlpool fan but this will make me look at other brands.

Replaced the same microwave with same product and it stopped working less than two years. It’s safe to say I purchased the same product twice and both had a combined lifespan of less than 2 yrs shameful!!

I loved the microwave and it worked almost 5 years. We got our microwave as part of our new home appliance package in 2020. About 2 months ago, it started doing a sound like it's running when the door is closed and you press the start button, but it's not actually cooking. I have to leave the door open to stop the noise or it will continuously hum.
