What is in these capsules?
I don't know what is inside these capsules, but it is not N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC). If you read any articles or reviews about NAC, you will notice that many of the comments mention the sulfurous odor. This is because it has a sulfur base, it's a natural odor. When I opened the bottle of Swanson NAC, there was no odor at all. I even opened a capsule and smelled the powder, nothing. I tried crushing the powder, still no odor. If this is Swanson's idea of quality control, I'll buy all my supplements elsewhere.

The Proper NAC
There are several doctors who discuss the respiratory benefits of this product on You Tube. So I decided to purchase two bottles of the Swanson brand. I was very disappointed. I had taken one whole bottle, and saw No difference. The doctors state how you know it is a good brand, it should have a smell of rotten eggs. This brand had no smell. Tried a different brand, it had the rotten egg smell, and you could tell the difference immediately. The stronger brand, you could not take on an empty stomach. I took two of the Swanson brand and I didn't notice any difference.

Should smell like Sulfur
I don't know. It's my understanding that for the NAC to be potent, the supplements should smell like sulfur. These do not smell. I learned that after buying these, but I recall reading reviews of products about the smell. I don't see them for this one. Also, I haven't noticed an improvement in my mucus issues.

Would buy again
As usual the Swanson affordability makes this a good buy. Haven't felt any side effects thus far.

Must have if you take acetaminophen
My doctor recommended this because of my daily acetaminophen use. After just one month of taking NAC, my kidney numbers looked so much better than before!

NAC for Anxiety Reduction
I took NAC for 6 months as an off-label anxiety reducer as recommended by my doctor. Unfortunately, it didn't help me in the way my doctor and I were hoping, but hopefully it works for someone else!

NAC great, taken daily, keeps bugs at bay!
NAC is great at keeping the bugs at bay, taken daily, & it's not too pricey. IF you do succumb to some bug, then get beta glucan, if you can (it costs a bit more, but worth 'getting better")

Former Firefighter Recommended. Works great, could save lives.
As a former volunteer firefighter/EMT that still smokes (organic) tobacco cigarettes, I love NAC for a multitude of it's benefits. Works great for me, great value, protects my families health. Lots of research out there proving why some interests try to ban it.... but we see through the lies and illusions. No downsides for me personally, all benefits, would recommend to almost anyone.

Didn't work for me
My psychatrist suggested taking this to help resolve my issues with skin picking. This supplement isn't for me. I tried taking it for a few days and broke out in an itchy rash on my wrists, ankles, chest, back, and shoulders. After some weeks, I decided to give it a second try and the same thing happened.

NAC very different odor.
I have been using NAC with great success and purchasing for my family also since Jan 1, 2021. My question is has anyone found a really off smell, not sulfur but just foul more chemical on opening their bottle in the last few months. I called and they told me it was a reg smell and I said, no it was way off. I dont mind the sulfur smell much knowing it is suppose to be there. I opened each bottle. I bought 6 and gave 2 away, they tossed them I was told, but each bottle was the same batch number. I spoke with Mary at customer service and she said send them back they would look into it. My husband took one and spit it out immediately and made him feel ill. I sent 4 bottles back. I am just waiting to see how they handle my return. Swanson is a good source for my needs and I dont want to go elsewhere. Just wondering.

NAC Regenerates Glutathione in the Liver
FLCCC’s December 20, 2022 newsletter highlighted 8 good reasons to like NAC. Reason #6 was for NAC’s antioxidant properties. The newsletter noted: “ Bonus: Because it [NAC] regenerates glutathione in the liver, it has a vital role in supporting detoxification (in fact, NAC is the remedy given in hospitals for liver toxicity due to Tylenol overdose). ”

Good stuff
I started taking NAC because I heard a Dr. That specializes in diet say it is good for the immune system. After a week or so I began to feel much better and had more energy. NAC is supposed to make your liver more efficient. I believe it helped me.

Questionable "other ingredients"
In reading the back of the bottle I found that the product contains Magnesium Stearate. Some health professionals claim it is not good for the body. Swanson should have it removed from the manufacturing process.

Works for my hayfever!
I have bad seasonal allergies and over the counter allergy meds make me very sleepy and don’t do a very god job of controlling my allergies. A couple of months ago, I read that NAC was good for allergies. I bought some and it has worked very well. This fall I haven’t taken any o.t.c. meds and my allergies have been almost non-existant. The NAC seems to work very well. I’m 75 and I wish I had discovered NAC for my allergies a lot sooner. I don’t know what other benefits I might be getting, but controlling my allergies is enough for me. I take 1 four times a day.
