Opened and I changed mind.
It had been opened. I decided on a small one since a lot of the reviews mentioned it getting moldy. This way If the small cheap one gets moldy I can just throw it away. Kid that did return seemed to be bad mood.

From the time I plugged it in the “reset” light comes on after no more than an hour for no apparent reason…brand new…pretty irritating.

Worst humidifer ever
Bought two of these, one humidifier worked fine, the “on” green light worked on one and the other one did not, so the only way of knowing that it was turned on is if I put my hand over the part where the mist comes out. I went back to target to do an even exchange for the same exact model and the second one also didn’t even power on or let out a mist! I do not recommend buying this product.

I bought this brand new, used it a 1-2 times the end of last winter, got it out to use recently and it doesn’t work. The red light stays on. Total waste of money. Won’t be buying this brand again.

I’ve purchased this product twice, assuming the first one failed because of something I did. It turns out the product itself is faulty. The instructions say to use distilled water—or even to mix distilled and regular water—but the device only works with regular water, which causes hard-water buildup much faster. The humidifier rarely turns green (which indicates it’s working properly). Most of the time, it shows a red light and stops functioning altogether. After two failed units, I now have to buy a humidifier for the third time, but I’ll be switching to another brand.

I bought this Vicks humidifier, paid full price for a brand-new item, and Target sold it to me as if it were new. It arrived used, dirty, and even had hair and fur inside. And if they’re going to sell me a used item, then at least offer a discount, because it’s not fair for me to pay for a new product and receive something used, dirty, with hair, fur, and water-stain marks. It was even dirty on the top, as if someone had rubbed Vicks ointment all over it. I don’t have an issue with the Vicks device itself, because I haven’t even tried using it yet. I believe it probably works fine. But I am extremely dissatisfied with what Target did — selling me a used item at the price of a new one. This is unacceptable.

A must-have for forced air heated residences. Pretty good Small room humidifier so be sure to measure the room - it doesn't humidify the entire house. Does get a bit crusty from water deposits and I have quite soft tap water. Requires occasional cleaning and descaling otherwise it gets noisy as the calcified deposits react with the heat element. Good idea to clean a couple times during the dry winter season use, which can be tedious if not done regularly as deposits pile up and harden. Lots of disappointed reviews As to effectiveness. Be advised that room humidity is diminished significantly when house is heated with a forced air furnace. That said, I use this in a 150 sq ft room and with door closed, low setting, it reaches 55-60 % rh but it does drop to about 45 % rh once furnace is on but with room door closed it level recovers after a while. Takes a bit of time to see room humidity level rise when first using in low humidity room, I turn unit on at least a hour before bed. Without a humidifier my rh % is in high 30's with outdoor temp in the 20°s or lower. So room temp and outdoor temp plays into the efficiency. It's a good idea to place a barometer in the room to monitor the humidity levels, you don't want room higher than 60% ideal for me I found is at least 50%. Dog seems to benefit as well ! Capacity is 1 gal, more than enough to get through the night 7-8 hrs on Low setting. I refill as needed. Out of curiosity I placed this unit in large the living room kitchen area appx. 600 sf and it only raised the 35% rh about 5-10% to about 40-45% rh on High setting and that's all it would do in the larger rooms, so be aware of the space you're going to use this unit it. Had this unit for two winter seasons now, no issues other than cleaning the mineral deposit build up which happens with all heated water appliances like irons, coffee machines and tea kettles etc. Does work wonders to relieve dryness in nose and throat for night time in dry conditions something you might to realize. Get a $5 digital barometer to keep tabs on humidity helps

The room humidity started at 26, this ran all night, woke up in the morning, it was at 30, totally useless.

Have had it so far for 3 weeks and been using it a lot to help overcome a respiratory illness that I thought I got rid of but came right back. Level 1 seems useless- hardly any steam. The max and only other option is good if you’re in a small room. I do like the big reservoir and that you can add menthol which you can buy a bottle of , to a small separate reservoir. All in all, it’s okay. Glad I got it but if I had more time I may have done more research and selected a different model.
