Q: What brands of pre-ground coffee does anyone reccomend? Will Folgers work in a pinch as well?

submitted by Drea - 1 year ago
  • A: I have been using pre ground bagged coffee just fine. I only get a few grains get past the filter. Most grocery stores that sell whole bean coffee also have a grinder nearby.

    submitted byAndrew H - 11 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your question! While any roast or grind of coffee will work in the BRAZIL French Press, we recommend using coarsely ground beans. Finer grinds can lead to a more bitter taste and allow more sediment to pass through the stainless steel mesh filter. For the best results, consider grinding beans at home or having your local grocery store or barista grind them for you. Hope this helps!

Q: How does this come apart to clean? How many filters?

submitted by targetq - 8 years ago
  • A: Just one filter came with the french press. The filter on the bottom unscrews from the filter and two other pieces for easy cleaning.

submitted bySan - 8 years ago
  • A: One mesh filter. The filter comes apart in 2 or 3 pieces (don’t have it in front of me) and it unscrews from the plunger to clean.

Q: Handle to close to glass can cause burns and spillage

submitted by Poor review - 1 month ago
  • A: Thank you for sharing your feedback on the BRAZIL French Press. The BRAZIL is designed to be ergonomic and stylish, and there should be enough room between the handle and the carafe that you do not come into contact with the hot glass when pouring. We encourage you to take care when handling any hot water or food preparations. If you would like to share more specifics about your experience so we can better understand how the BRAZIL failed to meet your expectations, please feel free to reach out directly to our customer service team at support@bodum.com. We appreciate the opportunity to hear from you!

Q: Shouldn’t the water be boiling instead of just hot?

submitted by Deidre - 9 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your question! For French press coffee, the ideal water temperature is actually just below boiling — between 194–205°F. While boiling water is commonly used, it can lead to over-extracted, more bitter coffee. Letting your water come to a boil, then waiting a minute or two before brewing, will help you achieve an optimal flavor. Hope this helps!

Q: Could even folgers work in this in a pinch? What brand of coffee (pre-ground) would anyone reccomend?

submitted by Drea - 1 year ago
  • A: Thank you for your question! The BRAZIL French Press can be used with any roast or grind, but we recommend a coarse grind for the best flavor. Using finer grinds may result in a more bitter taste and could allow extra sediment to pass through the stainless steel mesh filter. For optimal results, try grinding your beans at home or having them ground at your local grocery store or coffee shop. Hope this helps!

    Annoyed

This is the dumbest design. The handle is in the way of the plunger ?? Why ? Returning.
1 reply from Bodum team - 1 month ago
We’re sorry to hear that you’re frustrated with your BRAZIL French Press. The frame of the press is designed to be simple and efficient, affixing to the carafe by the handle sitting on the rim; this does mean that the filter has to be negotiated around the rounded end of the handle in order to sit correctly into the carafe. We appreciate your feedback about this design, and if you would like to share your thoughts directly with our customer service team, please feel free to reach out directly at support@bodum.com. Thank you for your review!

    One complaint

My one complaint, is that there are no measurement lines on the canister. It is difficult to gauge how much water to add to the amount of grounds you put it itin.

Easy to use and to clean

This is my first French press coffee maker. I’ve used it daily for three weeks. I like the coffee and the convenience. It tastes better than my electric drip coffee maker, but not as good as a stove top espresso maker. But, I get two full mugs from this press, but only one from my espresso maker.

    Great product, greater pricepoint

So, I see a lot reviews complaining about quality. In my personal opinion, if you use this device with a little ease and handle it with care, it is super durable and convenient to use. I’ve been using mine now 3 months, haven’t had a single issue with it at all. The only thing I would mention is, any coffee that is ground too finely, will pass through the mesh screen and may result in your coffee being slightly gritty or chalky. Otherwise a great product for the price point.

    design flaw

who designed this??? having the handle stick out so you can’t easily put the lid on is just insanely poor designing. it makes it very clunky to use. the lid also doesn’t stay in place while you push down the plunger. i know it’s cheap but come
1 reply from Bodum team - 6 months ago
We’re sorry to hear you’re not completely satisfied with your BRAZIL French Press. The handle is designed to affix to the top of the carafe and secure it to the base both sleekly and securely, and the lid includes a small divot that nestles under the handle so it stays snug on top of the carafe. While pressing the plunger down, if the lid becomes displaced, simply push it back into place; this will not interfere with the plunger’s ability to depress fully and properly filter your coffee. If you would like to share more of your insights, please feel free to reach out directly to our customer service team at support@bodum.com. Thank you for your review!

I’ve been using this French press recently, and it genuinely impressed me. It feels sturdy, looks clean, and the brewing process is super simple—add grounds, hot water, wait a few minutes, then press. The flavor is rich, bold, and way smoother than drip coffee. Cleanup takes seconds. If you want easy, café-level coffee at home, this thing delivers

Broke two different times after ~ 15 uses.

I have purchased this item twice, and the metal plugger stem broke where it attaches to the filter on both purchases, after ~15 uses. I will not purchase this item again.
1 reply from Bodum team - 6 months ago
We’re sorry to hear that your BRAZIL French Press broke. Please note that the plunger post is removable and screws into the filter, and after washing or repeated use it is possible for the post to unscrew and come apart. You can try reassembling your BRAZIL by aligning the threading on the post with the filter and tightening. If this is not possible, we would love to know more details about where and how the post broke so we can better investigate the issue; please reach out to our customer service team at support@bodum.com with more information about your experience. Bad design, coffee is fine

Terrible design at the top, you can’t fill it all the way or else the filter part won’t fit it because the handle extends past the rim so you have to leave like an inch short of the top to be able to use it.
1 reply from Bodum team - 7 months ago
We’re sorry to hear that you’re not completely satisfied with your BRAZIL French Press. The BRAZIL is intentionally designed this way to help prevent spills, and as recommended in the instructions, the best practice is to fill the press to about an inch below the top of the carafe - just below the spout. If you’d like to share your feedback directly with our customer service team, please feel free to reach out at support@bodum.com. Thank you for your review!

    BUY THIS

Probably used this close to 100 times. Works perfectly. I’m seeing a lot of these reviews that are rating bad because of user error. Your glass is breaking because you’re pouring in boiling water. Wait for the after to settle before pouring it in. Also, make sure the glass isn’t cold, it needs to be room temp. Also, your rod isn’t breaking, the screw is coming loose. Tighten it every now and then. It’s there to be able to take it apart to deep clean if need be. This French press is perfect, we love it.

We’re sorry to hear that you’re not a fan of French press coffee. While many enjoy French press for its classic preparation and bold flavors with rich aromas and textures, we understand it’s not for everyone. We recommend experimenting with different beans, grind amounts, and steep times - and ensuring you’re using coarsely ground coffee to achieve a balanced extraction with minimal sediment. If you have feedback about the BRAZIL French Press specifically, please feel free to reach out to our customer service team at support@bodum.com. Thank you!
