I’ve been using this oil on my locs for over 5 years now. I always purchased two or three bottles at a time because I feared they would change the ingredients. I went to purchase more and noticed the pretty new boxes they were in and completely forgot to check the ingredients list. When I got home, I compared the new and old bottle and noticed Tropic Isle added SOYBEAN oil as the third ingredient; removed olive oil, grape seed, and other amazing essential oils; 9 in total. I am highly disappointed. NOW distributed by “EBIN NEW YORK”. Brands should be required to mention on the front label what changes have been made when they conveniently redesign the packaging. They say, “The front is decoration and the ingredients list is for education.” This happens to so many great products with all natural ingredients. This “natural hair growth oil” is completely ruined. I’m not going to waste time or money trying it because soybean oil irritates my scalp, I do my best to stay away from it. I will be returning this product.

Similar to some reviewers, I'm also saddened by the recent formula change. I thought I had a product for life, but will need to find another oil.

I’m really upset they changed the formula of this oil. As someone with a tree nut allergy, finding hair and scalp oils that don’t contain almond oil is difficult and I specifically ordered this one in the past becuase it did not contain any nut oils. When I ordered recently, Target did not have an updated ingredient list on their app, so I assumed it was still safe to use (I had already gone through a full bottle of the older formula and absolutely loved the results). However, when I received my order I noticed the label was different and now the product contained almond oil. I am so thankful that I noticed the change in design and read the new label, or this would have sent me straight to the emergency room. Very disappointed. Will be returning and no longer purchasing from this brand.

My hair has been getting so thick because of this oil and my edges are back! The fragrance is nice and subtle and it's natural fragrances from the natural oils. Nothing is synthetic.

Very thick it weighs down your hair

I bought this at a beauty supply shop and excited to see it at Target! It works for fast hair growth! I just read the founders story on the tropicisleliving website and love how they started and kept going.

I'm disappointed that the product I received is not the one advertised. The bottle says "new look" so I'm thinking they changed the formulation as well because it is filled with essential oils and the smells is really strong. I have sensitive skin and bad allergies so I was looking for something more natural that didn't have a strong scent.

This product works well with keeping my sons hair moisturize. We apply it as a sealant to the ends of his hair after a wash and moisturize. The smell is nice and subtle. Not an over powering or pungent scent. Also great job to Target shipping department for ensuring the product arrived in good condition.

I noticed my hair was shedding so much in the shower & that made me really nervous because who wouldn't freak out? I was told that shedding after getting covid was a thing. I wanted to take action and really do something to prevent more shedding. I bought vitamins but wanted to try something more natural so bought this oil instead. I was oiling and scalp brushing my hair with this as well as massaging my fingers through my hair for about 10 min a week before a shower. My baby hairs above my forhead are growing like crazy. My hair feels thicker and I no longer shed so much. I am so happy with this product I am so amazed it works. I would say give it 4 weeks to see results.

I use this every day to keep my scalp hydrated I love the smell

I've used plain thick castor oil from a dropper bottle for my hair before, so this applicator bottle was wayyyyy easier and less messy. Plus this formula is thinner so it spread really well. The smell is very herbal and reminds me of a spa, but definitely read the ingredients because it might not be for everyone. I didn't know what to expect because of the reviews, but I loved it and it made the shower smell good when I washed it out. I used shampoo twice and then conditioner and my hair is smooth and shiny, with a healthy scalp for the winter!

Love Love Love product!…. I very much dislike new look. The bottle too is troublesome. Now I must keep with this long black cap! “If it’s not broken, why fix it!?!?!?!?!” …reason I took away 2 stars

I’ve used my fair share of oil treatments, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this one for anyone with fine hair like mine. I shampooed twice when washing the oil out of my hair but once dried it looked and felt just as oily as it did before shampooing…yuck. I’m also not a fan of the smell, which is very strong and very much like bug spray even after washing.

Keeps my braids moisturized well

This oil is light and smells like a bed of beautiful flowers. I have enjoyed using this oil for my Locs.
