Q: will it slide on low carpet

Excellent Quality Mat

The .2" thickness of this mat makes it very sturdy so it stays flat on the floor (low pile carpet in my case) and the beveled edges make it much less of a trip hazard, unlike my previous .085" thick mat that tended to curl a bit on the edges, making it more likely to trip on it. Plus I only owned that mat for 1 year and it was already breaking up where the chair coasters met the mat. This mat is much, much sturdier and I am sure will last much longer. Of course this one does cost more, but I think worth it. The only question I have is that because it is smooth on the underside with no nubs to grab the carpet, is it going to stay in place. So far so good. The weight of it should help keep it in place.

Unlike our other chair mats our Megamat doesn’t require grippers on the underneath due to its size and weight. The mat should support itself without the need for grippers to penetrate the carpet, proving its strength and durability. In regards to your question, please place the smooth side of the mat facing down on your floor with the textured surface facing upwards towards your ceiling. This ‘orange peel’ effect surface is designed for added stability but still allows the user to glide easily across the mat. Rock Solid

Only the Megamat has the strength to smoothly support 230 lbs guys sitting in 60 lb steelcase chair on DEEP pile carpet. Because it's so thick and sturdy, it needs no studs on the carpet side. With a smooth back, it can be easily used on hard surface flooring too!
